Tartaglia is slender and tall. In everyday clothes, his sleeves are often rolled up, slightly exposing his midriff.

He wears a simple but neat gray suit: trousers and a jacket with an asymmetrical fastening. The jacket is often only half-buttoned, revealing the Hydro God's Eye, which is attached to his belt. Black boots and black gloves complete the look.

Tartaglia's real name is Ajax. He was born in the Snow Kingdom. At 14, he ran away from home to seek new experiences and accidentally fell into the Abyss—an ancient underground world. There, he met Skirk, the "Swordswoman of the Abyss," who became his mentor and taught him combat skills.
Three months later, Ajax returned, and his father, despairing of control over his son, enlisted him in the Fatui conscription force. His strength and determination attracted the attention of the Harbinger, nicknamed "Rooster" (the Fifth), who offered him the title of Eleventh. Ajax was eventually given the title of Childe.

Tartaglia wields the Hydro element and can switch between long-range and close-range stances. In close-range stance, he uses blades made of water.
He also possesses Electro-Illusion, an ability granted to him by the Abyss. In his "Dark King's Garb," he fully unlocks his potential, but loses some of his humanity, and prolonged use of this form weakens his body.

Tartaglia's relationships with his colleagues are strained. He is a purebred warrior in a team that values ​​cunning and deception. His methods of completing missions often clash with those of other Harbingers. He relishes risky tactics and craves encounters with powerful opponents.
