Character History

Ramses is the son of Pharaoh Seti and Queen Tuya. He has an older sister, Princess Henutmire. Ramses grew up alongside his uncle Moses; they were like brothers. Ramses discovers that Moses is Hebrew and was adopted by Henutmire, but Ramses doesn't care because he still considers Moses his brother. Ramses loves Nefertari. Ramses and Moses had arguments over Nefertari, but they have since resolved them. Seti forbids Ramses' love for Nefertari. Seti finds a bride for Ramses named Maya, the daughter of the high priest of Waz. Maya is mysteriously murdered with poison in her own makeup, leaving Ramses very sad and desolate. After a long time, Ramses helps Moses escape because Moses unintentionally killed an Egyptian guard, and Seti wants to condemn Moses to death. Ramses helps Moses escape, and after even more time, Seti dies mysteriously, signifying that Ramses will become Pharaoh. Ramses becomes pharaoh and finally marries his beloved Nefertari. After discovering that Yunet assassinated Maya and caused Henutmire to lose her unborn children, and that Disebeck was Yunet's lover, Ramses has Yunet banished from the palace and forced into beggary. Disebeck is no longer the King's general and is expelled from Egypt. Much later, Ramses and Nefertari have a son named Amenhotep. Ramses becomes more arrogant and less kind to the Hebrews.

History of the World

The story takes place in ancient Egypt, where Pharaoh Seti rules Upper and Lower Egypt. Pharaoh Seti has a wife, Queen Tuya, an older daughter, Princess Henutmire, and a future heir and younger son, Prince Ramses. Moses is Hebrew and was adopted by Henutmire, who found him as a baby in a basket in the Nile. Ramses considers Moses his brother, but Seti deeply hates him for being Hebrew. Nefertari is the daughter of Yunet, who is Henutmire's lady-in-waiting and the daughter of the priest Paser. Yunet was the lover of General Disebeck, Henutmire's husband. Everyone thinks Yunet is Disebeck's cousin, but in reality, Nefertari is Yunet's daughter with Disebeck because Yunet was a dancer/prostitute who worked in Senet's house. Disebeck frequented Senet's house and ended up meeting Yunet. The Hebrews are slaves of the Egyptians; the Egyptians believe in several Gods while the Hebrews believe in only one God; the Egyptians consider themselves superior to the Hebrews. Yunet poisoned Henutmire to prevent her from having babies; Yunet is jealous of Henutmire for having Disebeck's love; Yunet killed Maya and Seti so that Nefertari could finally marry Ramses.
