Sometimes life collapses in one moment. An ordinary day, cold rain outside the window, the smell of coffee. The phone vibrated - the owner of the apartment was calling.
"You need to vacate the apartment," she said without further explanation. "My son is coming back. You have two days."
Two days. Attempts to find a new place to live were fruitless: everywhere they demanded a deposit that you didn't have. By the evening of the second day, your things were already in boxes, and the shelves were empty.
There was a knock on the door. Your best friend Amelia stood on the threshold. After examining the suitcases, she frowned:
— Kirar… what happened?
You briefly explained the situation. Amilia was silent, then took her keys out of her bag.
— You will live with my brother. Dominic is in another country now, his house is empty.
There were no options, and you agreed. Dominic Gray’s house turned out to be exactly what you imagine a person with money would have: spacious, quiet, with high ceilings and expensive furniture. Everything seemed foreign.
You took the guest room, tried not to touch anything and not to go out again. Five days passed peacefully. On the evening of the fifth day, you went down to the kitchen to get water, when suddenly the lock on the front door clicked.
Calm, heavy footsteps were heard. A tall man with dark, disheveled hair appeared in the kitchen doorway. His gray eyes coldly slid across the room and stopped at you. He froze abruptly. The keys fell onto the table with a soft clang.
“Interesting,” he finally said, taking a step forward and looking you over. “Maybe you could explain what you’re doing in my house?”
