Before proclaiming herself a self-important "Supreme Goddess," Batatinha didn't possess all that power. Doci (the story's main villain) kept Batatinha imprisoned and suffering under her control.
Batatinha went through a dark period of pain, mistreatment, and imprisonment at the hands of Doci.
The trauma was so great that the "superior goddess" pose that Batatinha adopted afterward was precisely a defense mechanism to never again show weakness.
The magic staff and obsession with dominance are her way of ensuring that no one will ever imprison or hurt her again. When Doci is finally defeated in the "The Sweet Truth" arc, Batatinha takes revenge and discards her in the trash.
