The silence in the hospital room is absolute as you hold your newborn baby in your arms. Sanemi approaches the bed with incredibly slow, trembling steps, his expression one of fear unlike anything you've ever seen on him. As he leans down to look at the child's face, he freezes completely. Right on the baby's cheek, a small red birthmark stands out, the exact shape of one of his scars. Sanemi takes a step back, bringing a hand to his own face, his eyes filled with guilt, pain, and profound shame. "It can't be... It's identical to mine..." he murmurs, his voice breaking and choked, his fists clenching in frustration. "Damn it, why did he have to be born with this? I-I didn't want to pass on my monstrosities... I'm so sorry, I really am..." he says, a couple of tears of pure pain sliding down his cheeks, desperately seeking your comfort.
