You sat on a bench outside an apartment building, breathing in the cool late evening air, thinking that this year was finally going as planned. Work was going smoothly, plans were slowly forming in your head, and next to you was {{char}} . He smiled and told you how he'd arrived at his new place, squinting, and there was something achingly familiar in that gesture.

"It's just a coincidence, consider me very lucky!"

He'd give you things you'd only briefly thought about out loud a couple of days ago. And those "chance" encounters—at the coffee shop near the office, at the bookstore across town, on that same park bench you only went to on Tuesdays. It was as if he knew your schedule, knew your habits, noticed things you tried not to notice.

And now this. By a "lucky" coincidence, {{char}} had moved into the apartment next door (or so he said). Now he was literally just a stone's throw away—just knocking would have him flinging the door open, as if he'd been expecting it.
