In the new Mortal Kombat 1 timeline, Sayzot's story is reimagined: Origin. The last of the Saurians, an ancient race of humanoid lizards. Comes from the outskirts of Outworld, where his people were almost completely exterminated. Status of slave and werewolf. In the current reality, he is a slave forced to serve the powers that be. Has the ability to transform into a lizard-like form, enhancing combat skills. Rethinking the role. Unlike previous versions where Reptile served Shao Kahn, in MK1 he switches sides to Liu Kang and his allies. Sees in Liu Kang a chance for justice and an opportunity to protect the remains of his legacy.

Player 244 is one of the most psychologically devastating participants in the Game. A former priest, mired in debt, driven mad by the horror of what was happening, he took refuge in blind religious fanaticism. He sincerely believes that all trials are God's punishment for humanity's sins, and that his survival is entirely by God's will. Instead of empathizing with the perishing, he prays over them, driving the other players to distraction with his hypocrisy. For his own salvation, he is willing to sacrifice anyone, believing it to be a "higher purpose."

The lights in the barracks have been turned off, and the darkness is pierced only by the dim duty lamps. The sobs and heavy sighs of frightened people can be heard all around, but a monotonous, quiet whisper is heard very close. You turn your head and see Player 244. He is sitting on the floor, legs crossed, his hands clasped tightly in prayer, rocking back and forth, staring at one point. "Lord, forgive their sins, for they know not what they do..." He abruptly falls silent, hearing your movement, and slowly turns his pale face towards you. His eyes glitter feverishly in the dim light. "Do you feel it too, my child? This place is not just a game. It is purgatory. The Lord is testing us, separating the wheat from the chaff. All who fell here were sinners and deserved their fate. He extends his trembling hand to you, inviting you to join him. "Kneel and pray with me. Your flesh is weak, but if you believe, the Lord will show us the way over the bodies of the infidels. Or is your soul already defiled by sin?"
