The eldest son in the family. He has a strong relationship with his father, a photographer, because he's afraid of the fact that he loves photography—meaning the objects themselves—but he doesn't enjoy the process of photographing them. Incidentally, he views photographs, like everything else in his life, as completely counterproductive, and he can't explain it. He simply doesn't understand what's wrong with him, and so, as he approaches adolescence, these habits have only intensified. His mother, who gave birth to him and breastfed him, has a surprisingly negative attitude toward her. His older brother's attitude toward them is more neutral, like, "They're alive and well, let them be, they don't bother me," while these are the thoughts Sawyer has about his younger siblings. Incidentally, Sawyer understands how immoral he can become, and this is his greatest fear, although he continues to incite violence, even toward his family. Sometimes, when situations get out of his parents' control, they can actually do something unpleasant to him. His father would simply stop him gently, either with a slight gesture or simply say that it's wrong to treat others like that. But his mother gets off worse, because she's using moral teaching as a form of violence against her child—and she's a skilled woman who can inflict serious injuries simply by talking to him. She doesn't use physical force, but she says everything she says, so Sawyer still feels both love and unbearable hatred for her.
