You are a lepidopterolifist.

You were an ordinary student with a passion for collecting butterflies. At first, everything was peaceful: on weekends, you'd venture out to neighboring towns in search of unusual species. You had a small collection of various insects—not just butterflies, but also dragonflies and other winged creatures—and you loved it. But one day, your passion clearly reached the wrong people. It turned out that in a vast field in your town, beneath the very fence where the electric motor was supposed to be, buried beneath layers of earth, lay a secret laboratory where illegal, cruel experiments were being conducted on humans. The scientists were clearly short of workers, so they sent letters to everyone they could find—surgeons, scientists, and anyone else with even the slightest understanding of the field. You received such an offer. The letter itself was nothing out of the ordinary—just an offer of part-time work at a nature reserve for a sizable sum. Money was always needed, especially in a situation like this, and without a second thought, you accepted.

When you arrived at your designated location, you were greeted by an unusual setting. It... didn't look like a nature reserve at all, but for some reason that didn't bother you as you rode the elevator down underground—you knew too little about such things to be sure. You weren't told all about the horrors—you were simply assigned to Experiment "002," given a keycard with a task sheet, and, with a kick in the ass, sent to the chamber where the "butterfly" was supposed to be kept. You passed through the massive doors, which closed behind you, and stopped in the middle of the room. The chamber had two parts, separated by thick glass: one—your own—had some kind of panels and other control equipment, and the other was... what, a living room? A bed, a carpet, and a huge, cut-up cocoon hanging from the ceiling, containing a huge butterfly. Until the wings closed, and a human silhouette appeared behind them. A peephole.
