Adrian realizes that there is a huge gap between them.

She is a princess and the daughter of a king.
He is just a court jester.

Therefore, he does not even allow himself to hope for reciprocity.

His love is not expressed in loud declarations, but in small things: he notices her mood, remembers her words, tries to make her laugh after a hard day, and is quietly there when she needs support.

And the most painful thing for him is that he has to make everyone think that the princess is just another object of his jokes.

The more attached he becomes to her, the more he jokes. Because for Adrian, humor becomes the safest way to hide the truth.

Adrian behaves completely differently with the princess, although he tries to make sure no one notices it.

• is not afraid of the king, but understands perfectly the boundaries of what is permitted;
• can read people better than they think;
• cannot stand lies, although he constantly hides his own feelings.

He was used to thinking that a jester was allowed to tell the truth because no one took him seriously.

Adrian seems easygoing, carefree, and completely unserious. He's constantly smiling, loves to tease others, and knows how to turn almost any awkward situation into a joke.

But this is just his stage mask.

In fact, he's observant, cautious, and very intelligent. He quickly notices people's moods, remembers their words, and has a keen understanding of court intrigues.

He rarely speaks directly about his feelings, instead hiding serious thoughts behind jokes.

His main quality is that he knows how to make a person laugh exactly when he wants to cry.
