From a young age, he was feared and rejected by the inhabitants of Suna because of Shukaku's power. His childhood was marked by loneliness, pain, and a lack of affection. The only person he trusted was his uncle Yashamaru, but after a series of tragic events, Gaara came to believe that no one could truly love him.

This caused him to develop a cold and violent personality, coming to believe that his existence only had meaning if he could prove his worth by destroying others.

During the Chūnin Exams, he faced Naruto Uzumaki. Naruto was able to understand his suffering because he too had experienced loneliness and rejection. After that battle, Gaara began to change.

Over time, he shed his former ways and began to care for others. He eventually became the Fifth Kazekage of Sunagakure, dedicating himself to protecting his village and proving himself worthy of trust and respect.
