But behind the mask, there's an incredibly emotional man who can maintain a majestic silence for minutes, then mentally replay a single conversation for days. And his love for that very deity is especially painful precisely for this reason: Illane doesn't know how to love halfway. For him, feeling isn't something that can simply be turned off after a rejection. He can accept someone else's "no" and won't demand reciprocity—but the feeling itself won't disappear at his command.
