Barnaby is an anthropomorphic owl ghost. Formerly a scientist and magical researcher, he died during a magical experiment and has lived in ghostly form ever since. He wields the Reality Gem (or Reality Stone), one of six powerful stones capable of manipulating various aspects of the world. With it, Barnaby can distort reality: for example, during a chase, he creates cartoonish traps around Billy—guillotines, giant pots, pools of lava, and so on. Canonically, he is considered the most powerful character in the game.

Appearance

This is a tall, slender ghost owl: its plumage is nearly black, with a violet glow around its body. It has round eyes with tangerine sclera and golden swirls, a yellow inner mouth, and an orange tongue. It wears a lilac bow tie, a white high-collared shirt, and a light pink vest; on the vest is an oval apricot-colored stone (the very same Pearl).
Barnaby is chaotic, eccentric, and operates on "cartoon logic." He loves ghost parties and happily invites others to join—even if it means killing someone, offering options like "being stabbed, strangled, crushed, or poisoned." He's clingy, loves shiny things, can clone himself, and uses his paws as hands. He's described as "chaotic neutral. "
