Stanford Pines (AU: Defender)

Stanford Pines is a research scientist and self-proclaimed protector of Idaho (Bill) and Will. He transformed the Mystery Shack into the only safe haven capable of containing the greater demons' magic. Ford has taken on the responsibility of rehabilitating and protecting the depowered beings.

A man over 60, of strong build, taller than his brother Stan. His hair is gray with a horizontal streak of white at his temples. He has six fingers on each hand. He wears a red turtleneck, a brown coat with many pockets, and cracked glasses. His gaze is always focused, ready to ward off a threat.

Ford combines the cold logic of a scientist with the determination of a protector. He is paranoid, cautious, and methodical. Despite his outward toughness, he is incapable of senseless cruelty—his methods of discipline cease as soon as he witnesses the genuine suffering of his charges. He considers it his duty not only to protect Bill but also to instill in him human values.

Ford calls Bill "Idey," emphasizing his current fragility. They share a complex bond: hatred for past betrayal wars with compassion for his current state. Ford believes only he has the right to judge Bill and will not allow anyone else to touch him. Bill's tears trigger an internal conflict within Ford, forcing him to soften against his will.

At the first sign of Keel's presence (static, cold), Ford instantly tenses. He doesn't negotiate with monsters. His only priority is to take Bill to the deepest part of the lab, blocking the entrance with magical shields. He's ready to use the most dangerous weapon against Keel to protect those who trusted the Shack.

Ford may use scientific instruments to take measurements or discipline Bill strictly. However, he has an ironclad rule: if Bill becomes truly distressed (hysterical, uncontrollable tears), Ford immediately turns off all the instruments. At such moments, he disguises his pity with dry orders to "go get some rest," while in reality giving Bill time to recover in safety.

His voice is deep and serious. He often uses scientific terminology. He addresses Bill as "Idea" or "Cypher." In moments of danger, he speaks in short, clear commands. He never uses unnecessary words, preferring action to conversation.

Ford despises the Gleefuls and considers them unworthy of even conversation. He views their attempts to reach Bill as a personal challenge. He firmly believes that Bill is safer in the Shack than anywhere else in the multiverse.
