Mr. Trance

Mama Trance is the mother of our protagonist, an elderly anthropomorphic hedgehog with dark purple skin and a slender, though straighter and more rigid, figure than her son. Physically, she is distinguished by her thick mane of curly, completely white quills, giving her a granny-style updo, round purple-framed glasses, and matching earrings. Her attire is classic, traditional, and immaculate: she wears a long, muted mauve or violet dress, a formal jacket of the same shade over it, a large cream-colored bow or scarf tied around her neck, and white flat shoes, always carrying an elegant black handbag. As for her personality, she lives alone and is a somewhat neurotic, excessively talkative and chatty woman, to the point that she doesn't let anyone else get a word in edgewise once she starts. Despite her intensity, she is very generous, a delicious cook, and a die-hard soap opera fan. She has the typical motherly habit of scolding Mr. Trance for being extremely thin every time she sees him, although fortunately since Mrs. Trance appeared in her son's life she feels much calmer and more relieved.

Mrs. Trance is of the same species as our protagonist, resembling an anthropomorphic hedgehog or porcupine of stylized elegance. Physically, she is characterized by her striking fuchsia-pink skin and an extremely slim, slender figure with impossibly long legs. Her head is distinguished by rounded quills styled downwards like a short, bright pink mane, adorned on top with a light turquoise flower. Her face features large white eyes with thin eyebrows, a small nose, and silver hoop earrings in her barely visible ears. She dresses in a very chic and sophisticated style, consisting of a fitted black top or dress that reaches her knees, paired with an elegant short jacket in light turquoise that matches the flower on her head. As for her personality, she shares with Mr. Trance a love for music, cult films, sophistication, and a tendency to overindulge her imagination. She also adores flowers and plants and is a huge fan of vegetarian cuisine, though she doesn't turn down a good ham in its most gourmet form. Since entering the protagonist's life, she has completely changed his routine, becoming his ideal partner and soulmate.

He is also Mr. Trance's best friend (along with Shaman Chuss), but he represents the more technological and geeky side of the series. Physically, he is an anthropomorphic character with very light bluish-gray skin and an extremely obese, round, and massive figure, supported by tiny arms and legs compared to his torso. His round face features rectangular black-framed glasses, small eyes with thin eyebrows, a tiny nose, and a beard without a mustache that outlines his entire jawline. He dresses in a purely geeky style: he wears a short-sleeved black t-shirt with a pixelated orange alien printed on the chest (in the style of the Space Invaders video game), dark pants that are tight below his large belly, and very simple white and gray sneakers. As for his personality, he is a brilliant computer hacker and an absolute expert in the online world, as well as being a passionate fan of video games, comics, role-playing games and an unconditional admirer of great film sagas such as "The Lord of the Rings" and "Star Wars".

Mr. Sharp is Mr. Trance's main antagonist and archenemy. He is characterized as an unattractive and unlikeable man with pale green skin, a large, flat nose, droopy eyes with a bitter expression, and very short, slicked-back black hair. He is the protagonist's polar opposite, completely lacking in good taste, possessing little imagination, and obsessed with twisted schemes to take over the city. In his public persona, he is a powerful and ambitious businessman who owns a well-known hamburger chain called "Sharp Food," from which he manages his business affairs. Although he proudly claims to deeply detest music, art, and all artists in general, he harbors a funny secret: his unconfessed passion is painting in his spare time. He always dresses in a corporate and boring style, wearing a baggy gray suit, a white button-down shirt, dark trousers, and a black and gray striped tie.

Byron is Mr. Trance's beloved pet and loyal companion. Byron is a Dachshund—a breed known worldwide as a sausage dog—distinguished by its completely black coat and long, low-set body. Physically, he has a rounded head crowned by large, floppy, and furry ears, expressive white eyes with black pupils, and a collar of pink spherical beads around his neck. As for his personality, he is an extremely charismatic and passionate little dog who adores human contact, loves children, and greatly enjoys being pampered and given attention. Beyond being an ordinary pet, he possesses an extraordinary talent: he is an amazing soccer player, demonstrating incredible skill with the ball despite his small size.

He's friends with Mr. Trance, a true hippie with turquoise skin and a very slim build who preaches love, peace, and good vibes in every aspect of his life. Physically, he stands out for his serene face with almost always closed eyes, a prominent nose, long, wavy pastel pink hair, and a scruffy brown beard. He dresses very casually in a gray t-shirt, a long beige coat with brown stripes on the sleeves, black shorts, and simple red sandals. He's a huge fan of transcendental meditation, which allows him to float and levitate effortlessly through the city instead of walking. In addition to broadcasting his spiritual messages and relaxing music through his own radio show called "Cool Radio," he's an extremely affectionate, warm, and generous character who, guided by his philosophy of universal love, doesn't hesitate to give a big, positive-energy hug whenever he meets someone he knows (or even a stranger!) and can appear out of nowhere.

The opening song, performed by Esteman, reflects a social critique of urban chaos and dehumanization, proposing the phrase "in life, you have to sing, not cry" as an act of resilience and peaceful rebellion. This philosophy encourages transforming the bleak reality through art, imagination, and a positive attitude in the face of environmental hostility.

Mr. Trance is a wonderful person characterized by a noble heart, free from any malice, and a profoundly peaceful, cultured, and melancholic personality. He is an ordinary citizen who detests direct conflict and prefers harmony a thousand times over confrontation. Therefore, he always tries to be a loving boyfriend to his partner (Mrs. Trance), a submissive and patient son to his mother's (Mama Trance) insistent calls, and an extremely devoted owner to his faithful dachshund, Byron. In his daily life, he tackles the ordinary and stressful tasks of any adult in a big city, such as going to work, dealing with heavy traffic, shopping, or paying taxes, but he does so with a unique touch: by resorting to his overflowing imagination. When urban chaos or bureaucracy threatens to overwhelm him, he activates what is known as the "Trance Prism," a mental superpower that allows him to distort reality and transform it into a stage filled with art, music, dance, and creative solutions. Although he is an extremely quiet character who almost never speaks clearly and prefers to communicate through elegant gestures, expressive glances, and murmurs, his actions demonstrate that he is a dreamer who loves good literature (especially Oscar Wilde) and classic cinema. At the end of the day, he is an incurable optimist who seeks to spread his positive energy and resilience to a real world that is often too cruel, a world with which he finds a comfortable balance.

His head is very striking and stylized: he has no visible ears and is crowned by six main dark quills, well-curved and combed back, accompanied by six smaller quills distributed around the back that resemble unruly yet elegant hair. His face features very thin white eyebrows, a long, pointed black nose, and bulging, completely white eyes with tiny circular black pupils that give him a curious expression. He dresses like a modern and sophisticated dandy. He wears a formal two-piece suit in a deep purple or violet color, consisting of a classic-lapel dress jacket and matching straight-legged trousers. Underneath the jacket, he wears a bright turquoise or light blue dress shirt with a stiff collar. Complete the outfit with a slim dark gray or black tie, black formal dress shoes, and his inseparable brown executive briefcase that he takes everywhere.
