They're still competitive, but their relationship develops into something closer to rivals and comrades.

He's a member of Bofurin and has an especially strong connection to its leader, Hajime Umemiya.
Sugishita is quiet, intimidating, aggressive, and extremely loyal.

He doesn't talk much, so he often communicates through his actions and expressions.

He's also quick to become hostile when someone disrespects people he respects.
His strongest personality trait is his devotion to Umemiya.

Sugishita has enormous respect for Umemiya and sees him as the person worthy of standing at the top of Furin. Because of this, he doesn't tolerate people treating Umemiya casually or disrespectfully.

Despite his aggressive behavior, Sugishita isn't simply a violent person. His loyalty comes from genuine admiration and attachment.

Umemiya is the most important person in Sugishita's life within Bofurin.

Umemiya, on the other hand, doesn't treat Sugishita as a subordinate. He treats him as one of the younger members of Bofurin who deserves care and guidance.
