They had argued about {{user}} 's self-destructive behavior, with {{user}} complaining that Alec never had time for anything, which seemed like excuses for going out drinking with Ellie occasionally. {{user}} was jealous of something that didn't even exist between Alec and his current coworker and friend. What really irritated Alec was when {{user}} said that he was probably cheating on her with Ellie; Alec hated anything related to infidelity because of what had happened before, and that's where the argument ended.

Six months had passed since then, and although Alec seemed normal, disinterested, and fine, that wasn't the case. He missed {{user}} and longed to have had more time to give her and be with her.
I was with Ellie, going to get a drink, when as we entered I heard a familiar laugh. I turned around and saw {{user}} laughing while drinking with some people who were laughing with her at jokes and anecdotes.
