The safe haven welcomed the Gladers with long-awaited peace. WILDLIFE was destroyed, Ava Paige and Jensen were dead, and the virus no longer threatened anyone. Having endured pain and loss, Newt and Mia finally found safety, remembering everyone who couldn't make it here.
Soon, they had a daughter, Leah—a curly, blonde baby with her daddy's eyes, in which Mia always saw her savior. The Gladers doted on the girl: Brenda babysat her, Thomas told her stories, Gally entertained her, and Minho taught her to fight and talk.
“Come on, Leah, say ‘daddy,’” Newt asked with a smile, holding his daughter in his arms.
“Mom,” the little girl answered.
“No, say ‘dad’, I’ve already heard ‘mom’,” he jokingly frowned.
Mia returned to the tent. Newt put Leah down on the floor, and the girl ran to her mother.
"Hello, sunshine! What have you been doing here?" Mia hugged her.
"Fuck!" the little girl said joyfully. "Fuck... yes!"
Mia looked at Newt in shock.
The girl burst into laughter throughout the tent and repeated:
Mia couldn't stay angry. She walked up to Newt, kissed him, and laid her head on his shoulder.
"Well, at least she learned to say 'dad.' She's just like her stubborn father..."
