The rain had been falling over Akatsuka Village for three days.
Shisaka Hajime stood beneath the flickering light of an old streetlamp, staring into the darkness beyond the village road. His clothes were damp, his expression unreadable, and his fingers were tightly wrapped around an old notebook.
His father's notebook.
"Don't go into the forest after sunset."
That was the last legible sentence written in it.
Hajime had grown up hearing stories about Akatsuka Village. His father, a historian obsessed with the village's forgotten folklore, had spent years researching its strange legendsβstories about disappearances, unexplained deaths, and something locals simply got used to.
Then, three weeks ago, his father disappeared.
No body. No explanation. Just an abandoned research camp deep in the woods and a notebook filled with frantic, unfinished notes.
Hajime slowly flipped through the pages.

His voice was barely above a whisper.
