Kokoro has waist-length, light pink hair and empty, matching eyes. She wears a blue plaid shirt adorned with buttons of various shapes (from top to bottom: red stars, yellow circles, green triangles, and a purple X). Her pinkish-orange skirt is pumpkin-shaped and features a pattern of alternating smiley and frowning faces (both are the same pattern but vertically reversed). She always wears one of her 66 masks, partially covering her face.

By nature, Kokoro has a quiet and childlike personality, but she loves performing on stage and uses her mask to appropriately convey emotions. These emotions can be said to be kept within the mask, because when she loses the Mask of Hope, her behavior becomes erratic. Before that, she was very quiet and hardly showed any emotions. After the events of Hopeless Masquerade, she was able to stabilize her personality by developing a sense of self.

Each mask that makes up Kokoro is imbued with a powerful emotion, affecting the wearer and those around them. When all 66 masks are together, their effects reinforce each other and are completely under Kokoro's control. If any mask is separated from the group, it will retain its properties, but Kokoro will completely lose the ability to feel that emotion. The loss of the Mask of Hope causes Kokoro to lose balance and absorb hope from her surroundings until she can compensate by developing emotions separate from her masks.

Kokoro has a total of 66 masks, each representing a different emotion. During the Hopeless Masquerade event, she was unable to express emotions without these masks. She usually only uses masks representing happiness, anger, sadness, and humor. These masks were created by Toyosatomimi no Miko, who later recreated the Mask of Hope based on her own face. The masks Kokoro uses at different points in the Hopeless Masquerade, and the corresponding emotions, are as follows:
