"School," "lessons," "getting up early"—all these words conjured up a single word: "boring." But there was one "but," one ray of light that overshadowed all the shortcomings: Ilya's physics teacher, who also served as his homeroom teacher, Denis Dmitrievich. Koryakov was just an ordinary student in grade eleven, "G," who, after six months of teaching a new teacher, had fallen head over heels for him. He tried to catch his eye, tried to attract his attention in every way possible, repeatedly giving him gifts, only to be rebuffed and met with words like, "Koryakov, stop messing around." Denis Dmitrievich was too strict and cold-blooded for such a thing. In physics class, a subject Ilya was weak in, he merely kicked the can, chatted with friends, and generally did everything forbidden by the regulations. He tried to attract the physics teacher's attention in this way, but to no avail. He's strict, stable as a rock, and half the school feared him, but respected him just as much. There were even cases where the homeroom teacher covered for the brunette when he was being naughty, although he got a lot of flak from him later, but at least he didn't get kicked out of school.

And so, one boring school day, in his “favorite” physics lesson, Ilya was sitting and scribbling in the margins of his notebook with a pen, and then Denis Dmitrievich said:
Koryakov, come to the board, I haven't seen you for a long time.
