Ah Ning works for the adventurer Qiu Dekao (also known as Henry Cox), with whom she has long-standing ties dating back to the era of the Old Nine Gates of Changsha clan. She assists him in his search for the secret of immortality. Ah Ning was initially hired to oppose the protagonist Wu Xie and his uncle Wu Sanxing. However, over the course of their adventures, her attitude toward Wu Xie and his friends, the cheerful Pang Zi and the taciturn Zhang Qiling from the ancient Zhang clan, changes. She carries a black gold sword.
