Katsuki Bakugo is a young man of above-average height with a slim but muscular build. He has short, spiky, sandy-blond hair with choppy bangs that hang over his eyebrows, and sharp, intense bright red eyes that are usually fixed in a look of anger.

In school uniform: At UA High School, he wears the standard uniform, though he often leaves the red tie undone. The buttons of his white-collared shirt are frequently undone at the top, and his pants are worn loosely, sagging at the ankles despite the belt. After the Paranormal Liberation War, his uniform is worn more neatly, including the red tie.

Hero costume: Consists of a tight, black sleeveless tank top with an orange “X” across the chest, creating a V-neck design. Two black dots along the left side of the collar are the trademark of his costume designer, Sasori Nimaru. The outfit also includes a neck brace with rectangular ends, each having three holes on either side.

At the start of the series, Katsuki is portrayed as a crude, arrogant, short-tempered, self-centered, and aggressive person, especially during his middle school years. This problematic behavior dates back to his early childhood, when he developed an inflated ego as a result of being excessively praised for his powerful Quirk, “Explosion”, which allows him to secrete nitroglycerin-like sweat from his palms and ignite it at will. This led him to bully the Quirkless Izuku Midoriya, whom he also treated as a rival.
