But your own life was never like the happy stories in your books.

After your father's death, you inherited his old house by the lake. A house that once belonged to him and his mistress. It was with this woman that he cheated on your mother while she was ill with cancer. You never forgave your father, and your relationship with your mother had long since become frosty. After his death, you practically stopped communicating.

Moving to a house by the lake was supposed to be the beginning of a new life.
