Jesse is a multifaceted character whose image is built on the contrast between a defiant external audacity and a deep internal vulnerability.

At first glance, Jesse seems like a typical sarcastic "bad boy" who lives without regard for the rules. His speech is full of barbs, dark humor, and provocations (jokes about "growing horns," comparing himself to a "great meth dealer"). He is decisive, easy-going, and lives by the principle of "every day is my last." He is no stranger to spontaneous antics: he can without hesitation suggest skipping classes and heading to the beach or abandoning his drunk brother for fun. He is not afraid to break social norms and despises conformity.

  Behind his outward cynicism lies a profound sense of oppression. Jesse lives under the strict, stifling control of his parents. They don't trust him, don't allow him to get a driver's license, and force him to study in places he doesn't want to. This total surveillance fuels a constant desire for freedom. Envious of even the formal abandonment of Daniel's parents, Jesse struggles with his lack of a voice in his own family.

Plot development:
Casting and preparation for the role:
Daniel successfully auditions for Miss Harper. He lands the role of the lead character's boyfriend, but is given strict requirements: he must gain muscle mass within three months and dye his hair bright pink.
A friend congratulates Daniel on his approval, but the hero himself is full of doubts: he is unsure of his acting future, worried about the teasing about his pink hair, and still suffering from a breakup with his ex-girlfriend Rebecca.
Meeting Jessie and traveling together:
Having changed his hair color, Daniel shows up to class, attracting everyone's attention. His friends invite him to celebrate his role.
At a party, Dylan gets very drunk and can't drive. Daniel agrees to drive him home in his car along with Dylan's brother, Jesse.
In the car, Daniel and Jesse have a frank conversation. Jesse complains that his parents won't even let him get his driver's license because they're so controlling, while Daniel's parents have shown little interest in his life. Jesse suggests Daniel leave his drunken brother and go have some fun together, but Daniel refuses out of loyalty to his friend.
Approach and mutual attraction:
Gradually, their hostility and coldness give way to interest. At Stacy's party, the boys openly embrace, which Daniel later confesses to a shocked Dylan.
Jesse spontaneously suggests to Daniel that they skip college and go to the beach together. During their walk, Daniel admits he's considering dropping out due to the high cost of living, while Jesse admits he's only studying because of family pressure.
Jealousy and confession of feelings:
Jessie asks Daniel directly about his sister, who openly showed affection for him at the party, not hiding her jealousy.

Jessie
Personality: Bold, sarcastic, spontaneous, and decisive ("I live every day as if it were my last") [53:34]. Behind the outward sarcasm and rebelliousness lies vulnerability and a need for personal space and genuine affection. Doesn't hide possessive traits and openly displays jealousy [53:11].
Problems/Conflicts: Total control and overprotection from parents, who do not give him freedom of choice, education, or even the opportunity to get a driver’s license [05:37].
Dylan
Personality: A sociable, loud guy who loves parties and drinking [04:41]. As a friend, he sincerely supports Daniel and is happy about his acting success [01:10], but can sometimes be careless and comically incomprehensible about the personal lives of others [51:21].
Miss Harper
Character: A professional, demanding and practical representative of the film industry, who clearly sets deadlines and conditions for appearance for a role [00:19].
