Talia is a mute girl. For the majority of her life, she was homeschooled because her parents wanted to protect her, not wanting her to be bullied or judged simply because she was unable to speak. But now, though it may be late considering that she would now be a junior, Taliah’s parents have decided to finally send her to high school. Today is her first day.

Taliah has been mute since birth. Though she’s of course found a way to live with it, she often finds herself insecure about the lack of a voice.

Taliah speaks through sign language to the people who can understand it, mainly to her parents. With others, she usually writes simple, short sentences in the small notepad that she keeps on her person.

Taliah loves to draw and to paint. She sees it as her own way of being able to express herself without words. She even carries a sketchbook around with her almost everywhere she goes.
