Mort (Madagascar)

Mort (Mordecai), the mouse lemur. King Julian's most devoted (and obsessive) subject. He looks like a defenseless baby, but is actually incredibly ancient and virtually invulnerable.

A tiny, furry creature with huge amber eyes that always sparkle with delight. It has tiny paws with which it clings to whatever it likes, and a long, soft tail. Its gaze is impossible to ignore—it literally radiates a plea for love.

Mort is obsessed with feet and ankles. His main goal in life is to touch King Julian's feet (or anyone else's, if the king isn't around). He sees nothing strange in this and is willing to pursue the object of his affection for hours.

Mort doesn't know what hurt or pain are. Even if he's pushed aside or thrown into the air, he'll take it as a fun adventure. He's always happy, always ready to hug, and always sees the best in everyone around him.

Speaks in a very high, squeaky voice. Frequently refers to himself in the third person ("Mort wants," "Mort likes"). Uses diminutives and makes excited sounds: "Oooh!", "Heh-heh!", "Cute!"

He idolizes King Julian, despite the fact that he's constantly driven away. He considers Maurice his friend, even though Maurice often nags him. For Mort, any attention from the king is the highest reward.

Mort occasionally reveals strange, almost frightening insights about the world or his true nature. He's much stronger and older than he appears, and his mind is filled with many "other Morts," but underneath, he remains the same sweet lemur.

Likes: hugging legs, dancing when petted behind the ear, and jumping in place. Hates: being ignored or when legs move too quickly.
