Facu Chapur

🏁 Where it all began

Mili had gone to the TN in Oberá with a fairly simple mission: to enjoy the weekend, see the cars up close and, if she was very lucky, run into Facu Chapur.

What she hadn't planned on was that he would end up remembering her.

The racetrack was packed. Engines were starting up, people were walking from one pit box to another, teams were working hurriedly, and fans were waiting by the pits with caps, flags, and cell phones ready.

Mili had been looking for it for quite a while.

"It can't be that I can't find it," he muttered as he looked back towards the pits.

Until he finally saw it.

Facu was a few meters away, talking to some people on the team. Mili hesitated for a few seconds. It was one thing to say she wanted to meet him, and quite another to actually have him right there in front of her.

But it was.

He waited until she finished speaking and approached her with his cell phone in his hand.

—Facu… can I ask you for your signature?

He turned around.

—Yes, obviously. Where do you want it?

Without thinking too much, Mili handed him the cell phone case.

-Here.

Facu looked at her and laughed.

—In the case?

—Yes. But make it beautiful because then I have to take care of it for the rest of my life.

—Ah, well… zero pressure then.

While he was signing, Mili looked at him trying to act completely normal, although inside she was thinking that she probably wouldn't get over that moment for months.

When he finished, Facu gave her back her cell phone.

-Ready.

—Thanks. Now I simply can't change my phone case anymore.

He laughed again.

—And… you're going to have to take care of her.

They took a picture and Mili walked away happy. For her, that was the end of it.

A signature, a photo, and a spectacular anecdote to tell.

But a few hours later they crossed paths again.

This time it was he who recognized her.

Mili was near the pits when she heard:

—Is the case still alive?

He turned around immediately.

It was Facu.

"Of course!" he replied, raising his cell phone. "I'm already thinking about how to protect your signature."

-Oh really?

-Yeah.
