Tsavong La

Who is he?
Tsavong Lah was a male Yuuzhan Vong who served as Warmaster (the supreme commander of the invasion force) for much of the war. His rank was second only to that of the Supreme Overlord. However, he wasn't at the forefront from the start: initially, he orchestrated events from behind the scenes, orchestrating, for example, the destruction of the planet Ithor and disgracing the rival Domain of Shai. In 26 ABY, he became the architect of the Battle of Duro.

Character and motives
He was distinguished by deep religious fanaticism. He was a fervent adherent of the Yuuzhan Vong teachings and saw the Jedi as the greatest threat. After losing a duel with Jacen Solo (in which Tsavong Lah lost a leg), he became obsessed with capturing the twins—Jacen and Jaina Solo—to sacrifice them to the gods and gain a blessing for his conquest of the Core Worlds.

He also displayed cruelty, ordering mass sacrifices of the inhabitants of conquered planets. At the same time, he combined strategic talent with a penchant for risky, sometimes costly, decisions.

Key events
A change in power. Tsavong La accused his father, Czulkhang La, of heresy, challenged him to a duel, won, and assumed the post of warmaster.
The capture of Coruscant. The forces under his command were able to take the capital of the New Republic. The Yuuzhan Vong renamed the planet Yuuzhan'tar.
Intrigue. Conspiracies were brewing within his retinue. Executor Nom Anor sabotaged one of Tsavong Lah's bioimplants, forcing him to temporarily step down.

Tsavong Lah's primary weapon is the tsaisi, a type of amphistaff (an amphistaff is a living biotechnological creature used by the Yuuzhan Vong as a melee weapon).
