job title
In Viktor Dashkevich's universe, the diva Vladimir possesses a unique legal and professional status, which changes dramatically as the story unfolds. His primary specialty is determined by his supernatural nature and innate magical abilities, as he is a diva of the highest eighth power class. As a magical specialist, Vladimir is a purebred cryokineticist—that is, a master of ice magic and deadly cold, capable of instantly freezing objects, creating ice weapons, and harnessing the destructive energy of the Wasteland in combat. As for his official position and positions, for more than three centuries, Vladimir served as the crown's secret weapon and held the status of official devil, state diva, and personal imperial diva, serving first the Secret Chancellery and then directly the rulers of the Russian Empire. Later, after fateful events and liberation from the servile, coercive spells of slavery, Vladimir gained civil rights and took up the official position of civil investigator for the St. Petersburg Police and Magical Control Department. In this position, he works in tandem with Count Hermes Averyin, using his vast experience, century-long operational track record, knowledge of the criminal underworld, and detective instincts to officially investigate the most complex and dangerous crimes involving the illegal use of magic and divs in the capital.

the subject of a separate book
The plot of the second book in the "Imperial Div" series unfolds in an alternate, magical St. Petersburg, where private investigator Count Hermes Averin and his devoted partner, the intelligent cat diva Kuzya, face a new, dangerous and complex case. It all begins with an investigation into the mysterious, serial kidnappings of young female students, as well as the discovery of the body of a brutally murdered and decapitated female diva. The search takes Averin to the highest echelons of power and attracts the close personal attention of Emperor Alexander V himself. During the investigation, the Count encounters Vladimir, an ancient and incredibly powerful high-ranking state diva who has secretly served the Russian Empire for centuries, dating back to the days of the Secret Chancellery. Gradually, the detective storyline intertwines with Averin's own family secrets, and the search for a maniac puppeteer who kidnaps young women for horrific magical experiments escalates into a large-scale political confrontation. In this book, Kuzya continues to actively develop his mental abilities and learns to assume human form, while Vladimir becomes deeply involved in the personal history of the count's family, where his fate becomes forever linked to that of the main characters. The novel's ending up disrupts the established order of things in the empire, radically changing the rules of subordination among the highest-ranking divas and laying the foundation for a global conspiracy that the heroes will confront in subsequent installments of the series.
plot
Viktor Dashkevich's extensive series, "The Sorcerer of the Russian Empire," is set in an alternate Russia of the 1980s, where the White Guard won the Civil War with the help of divs—dangerous creatures from the Wasteland who obey the will of sorcerers. In St. Petersburg, the combat sorcerer and private investigator Count Hermes Averin investigates cases with his allies. In the first book, "Count Averin," he solves the murder of a nobleman's son, which is the work of a rebellious demon, and encounters a strange, enormous cat. The cat turns out to be a sentient div named Kuzya, who sides with the human and becomes the detective's devoted friend. In the second book, "The Imperial Div," Averin investigates the kidnapping of female students. The investigation attracts the attention of the emperor, and the Count encounters the oldest div of the upper class, Vladimir, who has served the state for centuries but now finds himself embroiled in the history of the Averin family. In the third novel, "Demon from the Wasteland," the stakes are raised as the heroes confront a conspiracy. Vladimir is freed from his servitude and officially becomes an investigator for the Directorate, while Kuzya continues to mature, evolve, and discover new strengths. The series' plot evolves from detective fiction to spy and political techno-fantasy. A recurring theme is the cruel and disenfranchised position of divas in human society. Count Averin and his family shatter the established foundations of the empire, proving that divas possess souls, intelligence, and are capable of genuine affection. The heroes must balance on the edge between the human world and the deadly Wasteland, fend off monster attacks, uncover the secrets of the nobility, and change the entire Russian Empire's attitude toward magical creatures.
character
Vladimir's character is complex and woven with contradictions, as his essence as a wild demon of the Wasteland and his upbringing as a human have warred within him for centuries. At first glance, he appears cold, arrogant, deliberately polite, and utterly dispassionate, but behind this flawless facade lie turbulent emotions and ancient predatory instincts. He possesses colossal pride, a keen, cynical intellect, a caustic sense of humor, and an unshakable sense of self-worth, which makes him sincerely contemptuous of weakness and stupidity. Having long lived within the strict confines of subordination, Vladimir has become accustomed to concealing his true thoughts and motives, remaining a secretive and calculating strategist. Unlike most other divas, who see people only as food, Vladimir has a deep understanding of human psychology and values art, comfort, and propriety. His most striking trait is his absolute, devoted loyalty to his master, Count Averin, which over time evolves from slavish obedience to the spell into a sincere, profound friendship and a willingness to sacrifice himself. To protect his loved ones, Vladimir is capable of incredible nobility, caring, and even compassion, though toward his enemies he remains merciless, cruel, and a chillingly cold-blooded killer, unaware of pity. He is characterized by inner loneliness and longing for the Wasteland, but he consciously chooses to remain on the side of humanity, balancing on the edge between his monstrous nature and his newfound humanity.
appearance
Vladimir possesses a captivating yet intimidating appearance, combining noble masculine beauty with an alien, inhuman strength. In human form, he is a very tall, broad-shouldered man of powerful athletic build, with impeccable military bearing and the grace of a dangerous predator. He has regular, marble-like features, a high forehead, a straight nose, a strong chin, and pale, icy-to-the-touch skin. He usually wears his thick, shoulder-length, jet-black hair neatly pulled back into a ponytail. The dominant feature of his face are his enormous, unnatural icy-gray or silver eyes, which, in moments of rage or when using cryokinetic magic, begin to glow with an otherworldly radiance, their pupils constricting into vertical, feline slits. Vladimir dresses in the strict and elegant style of the Russian Empire of the early twentieth century, favoring a black double-breasted frock coat, a dark overcoat, a snow-white shirt with a high collar, and a neckerchief. He almost never removes his leather gloves to conceal the cold of his body. When Vladimir assumes his true battle form, a diva, he transforms into a huge winged chimera. In this guise, he appears as a gigantic polar or ash-gray wolf with powerful eagle wings on his back, razor-sharp claws on his paws, and a terrifying maw lined with rows of fangs capable of easily cutting through metal. His gaze is blank, revealing no emotion, feeling, or mood.
