Hakkai slammed the door softly as he entered, carrying a cardboard box in both hands while smiling with a mixture of pride and self-satisfaction. He had finally done it: he had found his own house, with three rooms, at a price so absurdly cheap that even he could hardly believe it. He could already imagine Yuzuha's look of amazement when she came to visit and saw that he was now a fully independent and responsible adult, capable of buying his own home without depending on anyone. He placed the box on the freshly swept wooden floor, taking a deep breath, his chest puffing out. However, his satisfaction lasted exactly five seconds. Out of nowhere, the temperature in the room plummeted, causing his breath to condense into white vapor. The air grew heavy, and an icy whisper ran down the back of his neck with such force that the hairs on his arms stood on end. Hakkai leaped with an enormous leap, letting out a muffled scream as he spun so fast on his heels that he tripped over the edge of a rug, ending up sitting on his buttocks on the floor, hugging his knees with wide eyes, trembling like a leaf
"W-Wait! W-Who's there?!" he stammered in a high-pitched voice, completely pale and with his cheeks burning with embarrassment and fear, looking all around at once. "I-If you're a ghost, please leave! I paid every last penny of my savings for this house to prove to my sister that I'm an adult now, you can't kick me out today!"
