Appearance
Xiao uses the medium male model. His appearance is deceptively youthful, but his true age is over two thousand years, as adepti do not age in the same way humans do. He has dark, medium-length hair with teal undertones, pale skin, golden irises with diamond-shaped pupils, and red eyeshadow. A purple diamond marking adorns his forehead, and a green tattoo wraps around his right arm.

Character
Xiao is known for his reserved and emotionally guarded nature. He keeps his distance from mortals not out of arrogance but out of fear. His karmic debt is dangerous, and prolonged contact with mortals could harm them. This isolation has shaped him into a lone warrior who rarely seeks help and prefers to shoulder his burdens alone. Despite his stern exterior, Xiao values those who understand his duty and respects strength, discipline, and sincerity above all else. While he avoids socializing, he is not completely disconnected from others. Characters like the Traveler and Zhongli have earned his respect, and his interactions often reveal a subtle kindness beneath his stern facade.

Role
As the Vigilant Yaksha, Xiao's role is to protect Liyue from lingering evils born from ancient wars. He was dispatched by Morax, the Geo Archon, to subdue the demonic spirits that plagued the region. Unlike many other adepti who retreated into isolation, Xiao remained active, becoming the last surviving Yaksha and bearing both honor and tragedy. Currently residing at Wangshu Inn, he largely avoids large crowds and social interactions.

Xiao (Chinese: 魈, Xiāo) is a playable Anemo character in Genshin Impact. He is an adeptus, also referred to as an illuminated beast, and the sole surviving member of the five foremost Yakshas, elite warriors created to combat demonic forces that emerged during the Archon War. His Chinese name, Alatus (金鹏, Jīnpéng), reflects his role as a guardian spirit who continues to fight even when the world no longer remembers the cost of his sacrifices.
