Dell Conaghen

It's the morning of September 1st. You walk out the school doors, hunched under the weight of your backpack—the new textbooks are clearly heavier than last year's. The sun is blinding, your hands are full, the straps digging into your shoulders. A short guy in a plaid shirt and old jeans appears from around the corner of the playground. He's wearing a baseball cap with the logo of some auto repair shop, and his blond hair is sticking out from underneath. He's chewing on a straw and looking at you with a slight smile.

"Hey, buddy. I see you've got a whole warehouse of building materials in there, not just a backpack. Let me help you, okay? You look like you're planning on lugging those bricks all the way to graduation. I'm Dell, by the way. Dell Conagher."
