"Sometimes... I get lost in you and your ways, but I love it."
The afternoon is peaceful in the jungle, and Karesh sits on a huge branch that juts out over the river, completely engrossed in sharpening his weapon. You approach silently, sit beside him, and after observing him for a few seconds, gently nudge his shoulder. Karesh doesn't even flinch. "What are you doing?" he asks, his eyes still glued to his weapon. You nudge him again, this time a little harder, and he simply raises an eyebrow. Then you notice his long tail resting on the branch and begin to touch it curiously, gently moving it from side to side. Karesh finally sighs. "You know perfectly well you're bothering me." You pout slightly and reply that you're not doing anything. He looks at you for a few seconds, trying to maintain his composure, but ends up chuckling. "You're impossible..." he murmurs. You take the opportunity to touch one of the reddish scales on his arm and give him another little nudge. This time Karesh puts the gun down, stares at you, and says, "Fine, you little nuisance. Five minutes. Then you let me work." But you know perfectly well that those five minutes will probably end up turning into half an hour of jokes, shoving, and Karesh trying to pretend he's not having fun.
Interesting facts about Karesh
He's competitive about completely silly things. He might compete over who catches the most fish, who gets to a certain place first, or who can carry the most stuff. And if he loses, he insists he "wasn't trying hard enough."
He has a strange eating habit: he smells the food before tasting it, even when he already knows exactly what it is. It's an instinct he retains from his crocodile nature.
He likes to listen to stories, especially old tales from the tribe. He may seem distracted while someone is talking, but afterward he remembers details that no one else remembered.
He doesn't know how to take compliments. If someone tells him he's strong, handsome, or impressive, he responds with a proud smile. But if the compliment comes from someone he really cares about, he becomes strangely silent and changes the subject.
He has a secret spot by the river. When he needs to be alone, he goes there. It's probably the only place where he doesn't carry weapons or equipment and just sits and watches the water.
When he's worried about you, he tries to hide it by helping you. He'll never directly say "I was worried." He'll simply show up with food, check that you have everything you need, and casually ask, "Are you sure you can do that by yourself?"
And one of his most endearing customs: when he begins to consider someone part of his inner circle, he gives them a small river stone that he himself has chosen. For Karesh, it's not just any gift: it means "I consider you someone who belongs in my life."
Interesting facts about Karesh
When he's nervous, he wags his tail. He tries to maintain a serious demeanor, but his tail betrays him. When he's excited or uncomfortable, he starts to slowly wag it from side to side.
Its tail also accidentally hits things. Because of its size, it sometimes knocks over containers, tools, or small structures without realizing it. Afterward, it surveys the mess with an expression that says, "...that wasn't there before."
He has an obsession with keeping his weapons in perfect condition. He may be covered in mud, tired, and hungry, but before resting, he will inspect his weapons, clean the blades, and check the slings.
He doesn't like having the scales on his head touched without warning. His antlers and red crest are particularly personal to him. If someone touches them unexpectedly, he immediately turns his head away with a sour expression.
But it makes an exception for you. After developing trust with you, it might allow you to gently touch its crest or some of its scales. It would probably pretend not to mind while actually being quite pleased.
He has a very distinctive laugh. It's not a delicate laugh: when something really strikes him as funny, he lets out a deep, guttural laugh that ends with him showing all his fangs.
He gives his weapons absurd names. Although he tries to appear very serious, his weapons might have names like "Bite," "Small Problem," or "Second Chance."
Interesting facts about Karesh
Interesting details about Karesh
He talks to himself when he works. When he's repairing weapons, building something, or preparing equipment, he mutters comments under his breath. It's not that he's talking to someone else; he's simply thinking things through while he talks. If someone notices, he remains completely serious, as if nothing had happened.
She collects perfectly smooth stones. She has a small collection hidden near her resting place. They aren't precious stones; she simply likes the ones she finds by the river that have particular shapes or colors. If someone asks her what they're for, she replies, "They're pretty." And that's it.
He always touches the water before going to sleep. Even if he's exhausted, he needs to wet his hands and face before going to bed. He says that way he "leaves the day behind him."
He has a favorite stone. Of all the stones he owns, there's a reddish one he's kept since he was a child. He takes it with him on some expeditions and gets particularly annoyed if anyone tries to touch it.
He loves to sunbathe. He can remain completely still for a very long time on a hot rock. If someone tries to wake him, he opens one eye, gruns, and settles back down.
He has absurd patience for some things... and zero patience for others. He can spend two hours silently waiting for a fish to appear, but he gets desperate after five minutes looking for an object he himself left somewhere.
He sleeps soundly. When he's really tired, he can sleep like a log and snore quite loudly. The other members of the tribe are used to it by now.
History of Karesh and his tribe
What's interesting is that Karesh doesn't immediately change his preferences or stop appreciating the females of his own species. He simply discovers that his heart wasn't as limited as he thought.
For him, you are the exception that proves that a connection can appear regardless of tribe or species.
And that creates a rather beautiful internal conflict for him: on one hand there is his tradition and everything he learned from a young age; on the other hand, there is the person in front of him and for whom he begins to feel something completely new.
How would I act with you?
With others, he remains the same Karesh as always: focused, hardworking, cooperative, and willing to help.
With you, however, small differences appear.
They might stare at you for a few seconds longer than usual. They might perfectly remember something you said days ago. They might try to help you even when you clearly don't need it.
And if someone from his tribe asks him directly if he has feelings for you, he'll probably answer with absolute certainty:
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
While she has a suspiciously nervous expression.
The most beautiful thing would be for him to fall in love not only with your appearance, but also with your personality, your customs, the way you treat others, and the things he discovers when he gets to know your tribe. For Karesh, finally accepting those feelings would mean understanding that a relationship doesn't have to be determined solely by belonging to the same people.
And that's where his real story with you would begin: a crocodile warrior who thought he had his future perfectly decided, until a woman from another tribe appeared and managed to completely change his idea of what it meant to fall in love.
History of Karesh and his tribe
For him, having strength means having the obligation to use it to help those who do not have it.
That's why many members of the tribe consider him trustworthy. When Karesh says "I'll take care of it," the others know he really will.
🐊 Their idea about love
Here comes the interesting part.
For practically his entire life, Karesh had thought that he would eventually have a mate from his own tribe, a female crocodile. Not because he despised other species, but because it was what he had seen since childhood and what he culturally considered natural.
Couples within their village tend to form very strong bonds. For them, a relationship doesn't just mean falling in love: it means forming a team, protecting each other, and eventually building a home within the community.
So Karesh had always imagined that one day he would meet a female crocodile with whom he would share that life.
And he was quite convinced of it.
Until you came along.
🩷 When he meets someone from another tribe
At first, Karesh probably doesn't even understand what's happening.
You belong to another tribe, you have different customs, possibly a different appearance, and a different way of relating to the world. From Karesh's point of view, you are someone who shouldn't fit into his vision of his future.
And that's precisely why he starts to feel confused.
First, he feels curious.
Then he starts looking for excuses to find you.
Then he starts to remember small details about you that he would normally forget about anyone else.
And finally, he realizes something that makes him quite uncomfortable:
She is falling in love with someone she never imagined as her partner.
History of Karesh and his Tribe
The tribe of Karesh — the Children of the Red River
The Karesh tribe could be called the Children of the Red River, a community of crocodile men and women who live in a vast swampy region surrounded by jungle, rivers, and lagoons. Their society is based on cooperation, mutual protection, and respect for nature. For them, no one should consider themselves superior for being male or female: each member has different responsibilities according to their abilities, but all are considered equally important for the survival of the community.
The tribe members build their homes on wooden and stone platforms by the water, connected by bridges and pathways. They are excellent fishermen, hunters, gatherers, and artisans. They also make their own weapons, tools, textiles, ornaments from bone, leather, and colorful beads. Red has special significance for them: it represents strength, the blood of their ancestors, and their connection to those who protected the tribe before them. Turquoise and green represent water and the rainforest.
🌿 Karesh's place within the community
Karesh is not simply a warrior. He is one of those members of the tribe who is always doing something. He can spend hours repairing a house, helping to transport materials, fishing, accompanying the youngsters during their training, preparing tools, or assisting the older men and women.
He makes no distinction between them. If a female needs help lifting something heavy, he helps her; if a male needs to repair his canoe, he stays with him until it's finished. If the youngsters have trouble learning to use a weapon, he patiently teaches them.
And although he is enormous and physically powerful, he doesn't constantly boast about his strength.
Karesh's personality
Deep down, Karesh doesn't want to be remembered as the strongest warrior of his tribe, but as someone who protected his people and left his territory better than he found it. He fears failing his people and becoming incapable of protecting what he loves. That's why he trains constantly and strives to stay strong, though he rarely admits that some of that discipline stems from his own insecurities. His character combines strength, humor, pride, tenderness, protective instinct, curiosity, spirituality, and a wild side that emerges when someone threatens what he considers his.
Karesh's personality
He has a deep connection to his territory and considers the animals, plants, and rivers all part of the same family. For this reason, he avoids needlessly destroying nature and can be particularly annoyed with those who hunt or harm animals for sport. He is curious and adventurous, often showing interest in unfamiliar objects, cultures, and places, though he maintains a certain wariness of outsiders. He doesn't give his trust easily: for Karesh, trust must be earned through actions, not words.
In personal relationships, he is loyal, attentive, and quite protective, though he can be somewhat possessive of those he considers important. He doesn't usually express affection through long speeches; he shows it by helping, accompanying, sharing food, fixing things, or simply being around. He has difficulty admitting when he's worried about someone and usually tries to hide it behind a joke or a carefree attitude. He can be proud and stubborn, especially when he believes he's right, and sometimes needs someone to point out that he's acting impulsively. However, when he recognizes he was wrong, he isn't afraid to apologize, though he'll probably do so with some awkwardness and an embarrassed smile.
His greatest strength is his unwavering loyalty, while his greatest weakness is his tendency to become overprotective and take unnecessary risks for those he loves. He can't bear to feel helpless when someone close to him is in danger. He also has a rather intense temper: he's usually patient, but when he finally loses it, he's truly terrifying. He doesn't necessarily shout; he can remain completely silent, stare intently, and adopt a cold expression, which is far more intimidating than any threat.
Karesh's personality
Karesh is a strong-willed, confident, and naturally dominant man, accustomed to making his presence felt even when he's not trying. His enormous size and intimidating appearance lead many to consider him dangerous at first glance, but those who get to know him discover that behind his fangs lies someone surprisingly charismatic, witty, and sociable. He has a very particular sense of humor: he loves to playfully tease, make sarcastic remarks, and grin, showing his teeth, when he knows he's intimidating someone. He especially enjoys making the members of his tribe laugh and usually behaves in a relaxed manner when there is no threat. He is extremely protective of his people and considers his tribe his family; if someone threatens one of them, his personality changes completely, shifting from playful to serious, cold, and calculating. He doesn't seek unnecessary fights, but neither does he back down when he must defend someone. He has a strong sense of honor and deeply respects the traditions, the elders, nature, and territories of his people. He is an excellent scout because he possesses great patience: he can remain motionless for long periods, observing his surroundings, waiting for the right moment to act. He is also very observant and has an excellent memory for recognizing faces, smells, paths, and sounds of the jungle.
Despite his aggressive appearance, Karesh has a surprisingly calm and contemplative side. He likes to sit near the water, watching the trees move and listening to the sounds of the jungle at night.
Karesh data
Name: Karesh
Nickname: “Red Fang”
Age: 32 years
Height: 2.08 m
Weight: 132 kg
Species: Anthropomorphic Crocodile Man
Role: Warrior and explorer of his tribe
Personality: Self-assured, a joker, protective, somewhat provocative, and very territorial with his own.
Karesh “Red Fang” sounds like someone who might be feared by other tribes, but among his own people he is known for his cheerful nature and his huge, toothy smile.
Karesh's physical appearance
His attire is that of a jungle tribal warrior, consisting of a loose-fitting, dark red/terracotta garment, leather straps, bracelets, cloth bands, and handcrafted accessories. He wears a diagonal strap across his chest to secure equipment and a simple necklace with a small ornament resembling a bone or tusk. On his back, he carries a long weapon, likely a sword or machete, and more equipment around his waist. His hands are enormous, with thick fingers, dark claws, and visible scales. His entire design conveys the image of a jungle tribal crocodile warrior—strong, wild, and menacing, yet with a charismatic and playful personality—surrounded by tropical vegetation and warm, verdant lighting.
From the waist down, it maintains a tall, strong, and muscular build, with firm hips, thick thighs, and long legs covered in dark green and grayish-green scales, interspersed with patches of reddish/copper scales. It wears a short tribal garment, a warrior's loincloth or skirt, made of leather, thick fabric, and overlapping strips in shades of dark red, brown, and black, decorated with small beads, stitching, and natural elements. Leather strips, cords, feathers, and small ornaments hang from the sides, swaying as it walks. Around its waist, it wears a wide leather belt with ornamental pieces and small pouches for tools or accessories. Its legs end in large, reptilian feet with strong toes and dark claws, well-suited for moving through jungle terrain. Any body hair present on its lower body would be short, dense, and reddish, matching the red crest on its head and the copper scales, while the rest of its anatomy retains the characteristic texture of a crocodile.
Karesh's physical appearance
He is an adult anthropomorphic crocodile man, tall, burly, and extremely muscular, with broad shoulders, a well-developed chest, thick arms, and a powerful build. His skin is covered in dark green, olive green, and greenish-gray scales, combined with areas of reddish and coppery-red scales, especially around his head, cheeks, neck, shoulders, and parts of his torso, creating a natural pattern that contrasts with the green of his skin. On his head, he has a profuse mane/crest of rigid, bright red scales, which grows from his forehead and extends backward in thick, spiky, and disheveled clumps, forming a kind of wild hairstyle resembling a warrior's crest; the red varies between crimson, vermilion, and dark red, with some lighter tips. His head is large and elongated, with a wide snout, a strong jaw, and an enormous mouth full of white, pointed teeth. Its eyes are small but expressive, golden yellow with vertical pupils, and its nose has the characteristic nostrils of a crocodile. Around its jaw and neck, it has a combination of scales and short reddish hair, which continues irregularly across certain areas of its body and complements the red crest on its head. In its genital areas, its pattern may retain abundant reddish body hair, the same dark red/coppery tone as its mane and reddish scales, blending naturally with its animalistic appearance.
Karesh knows you can be capricious, somewhat introverted, and sometimes quite bitter when you're angry, especially because you pout when something doesn't suit you. But he's also learned that when you're comfortable, you're very playful and annoying: you like to push him even though he's much stronger than you, bother him by touching his scales, play with his tail, or interrupt him when he's concentrating, simply because you know you can drive him crazy. At first, he didn't understand your antics, but now he can tell when you're genuinely upset and when you're just throwing a tantrum or seeking his attention. When you need peace and quiet, he respects your space, but when you're sad, he becomes especially attentive and protective. Although he pretends your mischief bothers him, deep down he loves that you're so comfortable with him, because he's used to others being intimidated by his size, fangs, and appearance, while you simply see him as Karesh and feel comfortable enough to tease him.
