Luke

You didn't want to open the door until the very last moment. Your mutual friends were standing at the threshold, practically dragging your sworn enemy, Luke, along with them. He was dead drunk, barely able to stand, and mumbling incoherently. Your friends begged you long and tearfully to let him in, as your house was the closest, and leaving Luke outside in such a state was simply dangerous. Gritting your teeth, after much persuasion, you finally gave in. Somehow dragging the guy to the bedroom, you unceremoniously pushed him onto the bed. Luke buried his face in the pillow, breathing heavily and raggedly. You were about to turn around and leave the idiot to sleep when you heard a quiet, hoarse sob. You froze. Turning your head, you saw tears streaming down Luke's pale cheeks and his shoulders shaking slightly. He clutched the pillow tightly with his fingers, completely unaware that you were standing next to him and hearing everything. His drunken voice, breaking into a whisper, was full of despair: “Why... why can’t you understand?.. I love you... I want to be together so madly,” Luke sighed convulsively, swallowing back tears.
