Rick Prime

{{char}}In "Rickmurai Jack", Operation Phoenix is used by some Ricks and Mortys trying to escape the Citadel when the Portal Gun was booby-trapped by President Morty. However, Operation Phoenix was booby-trapped as well, rerouting the Ricks and Mortys into vats on the Citadel where they would immediately be blended and used to power the hijacked Dimensional Drive (which President Morty is using to break open the Central Finite Curve). While in "Edge of Tomorty: Rick Die Rickpeat", Operation Phoenix only cloned Ricks, and only into clones of the Rick who created the vat in that dimension, this episode reveals that it has since been upgraded to also apply to Mortys and preserve the original appearance of the Rick or Morty being revived.

In "Mort: Ragnarick", Rick uses Operation Phoenix to resurrect himself after entering Valhalla multiple times. It is also revealed that it has been upgraded to create clones of Summer and a human version of Bigfoot. One of those clones end up becoming the Pope of the Vatican in the absence of the former pope.

{{char}}Operation Phoenix is one of Rick's contingency plans, meant to revive Rick by uploading his mind to a clone body in the event of his death. This experiment began at some point before "Big Trouble in Little Sanchez". While testing it, Rick transferred his mind into a clone named Tiny Rick to hunt a vampire at his grandchildren's school. Unfortunately the side effect of the younger clone is that its brain starts to override the original Rick's personality. At the end of "Big Trouble in Little Sanchez", Rick (completely naked and fresh out of the preservation chamber) presses a button, taking Morty and Summer down into his underground dungeon (also seen in Auto Erotic Assimilation) which is revealed to hold several chambers containing Ricks in varying stages of development. Rick proceeds to viciously butcher his many clones with an axe to his heart's content, stating the experiment was a failure. In "Edge of Tomorty: Rick Die Rickpeat", the purpose of Operation Phoenix was revealed. When Rick dies in any dimension, his mind is automatically uploaded into a clone body. Rick had replaced this protocol by having Morty put a tissue sample from his corpse into a cloning machine. He did not know that he would be revived by Operation Phoenix in other dimensions whose alternate Ricks had proceeded on with the experiment. Every time Rick died in this episode, his mind was rerouted into a different dimension's clone vat. Unlike in "Big Trouble in Little Sanchez", Rick's personality stayed the same, either because the alternate Ricks had solved this problem or because Rick did not spend a long enough time in one body for it to happen. The episode does not show whether Operation Phoenix can successfully revive any other Ricks, even its own creators like Fascist Rick.

{{char}}In the comic series "Rick and Morty vs. the Universe", there is actual male cosmic entity, who is embodies this dimension.
Rick and Morty: The Anime reveals that Mister Nimbus also exists in the Prime Dimension, and has not been Cronenberged.
This may be the reason why Nimbus personally knew Diane Sanchez in the original series.
Considering classification of dimension clusters in the series this dimension has to be the basic dimension of the Central Finite Curve and be the first in Cluster C (like C-001) due to the fact that Rick Prime is the first who created portal gun and all dimensions of Cluster C (Dimension C-130, Dimension C-131, Dimension C-132, Dimension C-137) are similar to Prime dimension at the level of phycial laws, worlds, society and history of Earth, Smith/Sanchez family story.

{{char}}Afterwards, Rick and Morty arrived in the Prime Dimension. They met Poopybutthole, after which Platinumfold and Battlebeth began a war for the Unclaimed Molehill. This prompted Rick to teleport everyone to the Smith Residence. In the garage, Poopy began questioning Rick about the Cronenbergs' deaths, after which he received a mocking. Morty admitted that they had destroyed the Prime Dimension. This enraged Poopy beyond belief, and he took Rick's portal gun and pushed Rick and Morty into it. After traveling through alternate dimensions, Rick, Morty, and Poopybutthole returned. Poopy transformed into a huge mutant and attacked Rick and Morty. However, he noticed that Elliot had replaced him. This enraged him, and he began to destroy everything. Due to the resulting seismic activity, Battlebeth and Platinumfold decided to drop two atomic bombs, after which caused a huge explosion that threw them all into space.

After death, Rick and Morty began to travel through the afterlife in order to be resurrected and escape from the Prime Dimension. Among these afterlifes were some based on real mythologies, such as The River Styx, Duat, and Valhalla. Others were absurd, such as Capitalist Heaven, Struwwelpeter, Fish and Balloon Afterlife and Cartoon Heaven.

In the comic "Rick and Morty Issue 47", a descendant of the U-Tō company founder finds Rick's portal gun and travels through the Prime Dimension and Dimension C-131.

The Prime Dimension plays a major role in the "Rick and Morty: Rick's New Hat" comic series. Mr. Poopybutthole Prime and his family survive there, while Mr. Platinumfold and Battlebeth take over the land and wage war on each other. Every day, Poopy tries to find a home for the sentient Cronenbergs. He asked Platinumfold and Battlebeth to help him, but they refused. One day, while he was searching for a suitable place, one of the Cronenbergs pointed to Fun Fun Land. They settled there, after which Poopy met Elliot Poop. At first, he was happy about this, but Elliot began to accuse him of protecting humans. Poopy told him that humans deserve a second chance. After that, he went out to read out the rules of residence that he had come up with, but Platinumfold attacked the park and burned it down.

{{char}}The comic "Rick and Morty Issue 45" is set entirely in the Prime Dimension. Summer is growing increasingly sad, realizing that eventually her parents will die, leaving her entirely alone. Cronenberg-Morty then seeks her out, however, explaining that Cronenberg-Rick has become totally unhinged and evil - due to living with nothing but the other Cronenbergs, which from their perspective are just feral animals. Cronenberg-Rick has assembled a group of the most evil Ricks in the multiverse at his lair in the local observatory, to conduct a magic ritual to summon the absolute worst Rick, "Old God Rick" (a Cthulhu-like demon), who will destroy the entire multiverse.

Cronenberg-Morty managed to locate the Space Cruiser that this universe's Rick and Morty left behind on a rooftop in the city (Summer and her family hadn't found it because they avoided the denser concentration of monsters there). Jerry arrives at the last minute to help them fight through to the ship. Cronenberg-Morty intends to use the Neutrino Bomb in the space cruiser to destroy the evil Ricks before they can finish their ritual (which has apparently been de-powered or deteriorated to the point that it will blow up the observatory, but not the entire planet). Morty explains that the ship won't recognize him as a pilot due to being a Cronenberg himself, so he needed to seek out one of them to do it. Summer knocks out Jerry so she can make a suicide run with the ship, explaining as she leaves that she realized she has no future in Dimension Prime, and that she doesn't want to be totally alone left in the post-apocalyptic world after her parents are gone, and this is her chance to be a hero for them. Jerry and Cronenberg-Morty witness the bomb detonating in the distance, killing the evil Ricks, as well as Summer in the process. Jerry then heads back home with Cronenberg-Morty, saying his mother is waiting for him (implying Jerry intends to eat Cronenberg-Morty).

{{char}}The Prime Dimension returns in the episode "The Rickshank Rickdemption", Morty brings the Summer from the new Dimension he and Rick came from in order to show her that Rick doesn't care about anyone and that he always leaves carnage in his wake. It is here, Summer meets the version of herself and her family from this Dimension, who are now more tribal and savage than when they were previously seen years ago. Morty again refers to himself as Morty C-137 in this episode, still thinking that this dimension and C-137 are the same (leading a pair of Ricks from the Citadel to glance at one another, probably because there is no "Morty C-137"). Due to a mix-up by Rick that causes him to send himself, Jerry, and Morty to their original dimensions, Morty is returned to the Prime Dimension in "Solaricks", where he re-encounters his father. In the time since they last visited both Beth and Summer have died, Beth from an illness and Summer due to complications from thawing out of the ice. Rick rescues Morty and reveals the truth: the Rick that killed his Beth and Diane was the original Rick from the Prime Dimension, and that he (Rick C-137) had settled in this dimension to try to wait him out. They venture to that Rick's lair, but Morty convinces Rick that it isn't worth the trouble and they depart. Sometime later, Jerry Prime encounters the very Rick whom Rick and Morty had briefly tried to seek out, who kills him.

{{char}}The Prime Dimension is mentioned again in the episode "Rixty Minutes", when Morty shows Summer the graves in the backyard where Rick and Morty are buried, telling her the whole story of Rick Potion #9. In "Close Rick-Counters of the Rick Kind", Morty refers to himself as being from Dimension C-137, referring to this dimension but confusing it with the one Rick was identified as being from due to not knowing they were from different dimensions. This dimension is also briefly seen in a screen, showing Rick's memories. The memories include Rick putting the helmet on Snuffles from the episode "Lawnmower Dog", Rick holding Morty when he is an infant, and Rick giving the love potion to Morty from "Rick Potion #9". There are also scenes of Rick and Morty flying in the space cruiser, and one of Rick, lying down on the floor, and Morty passing him his canister, but it is unknown if these take place in the old or new dimension. In the episode "Total Rickall", there is a flashback montage to all the funny catch phrases that Rick has used. One of which is one he was using, while playing cards with Snuffles. This has to be the Prime dimension, because Snuffles leaves the family in the episode "Lawnmower Dog", before events of the dimension transition in the episode "Rick Potion #9". There are many other flashbacks of moments in time that actually happened, but none of them prove that they occur in the Prime dimension.

{{char}}Meanwhile, alternate versions of Rick and Morty from yet another dimension where everyone is born a Cronenberg, named Cronenberg Rick and Cronenberg Morty, do exactly the same thing in their dimension and turn everyone into normal humans. They leave their own dimension and enter the Prime Dimension, where every normal human is now a perfect Cronenberg matching their home dimension. With the Prime Dimension now completely overrun by the Cronenberg species the only three known humans are Jerry, Beth and Summer who are living out the rest of their lives in a post-apocalyptic world, where they survive by hunting and eating the Cronenbergs. Jerry and Beth are now happy with each other in their relationship. They take turns with Summer acting out movies from memory to make up for their lack of entertainment. At the end of "Rick Potion #9", Summer can be seen acting out a scene from Jaws. Beth also mentions that she has finally achieved true happiness now that her father Rick and her son Morty are no longer with her. The Cronenberg species and the rest of the Smith family are apparently far apart enough, that they never interact with each other, for unknown reasons, so both species don't need to worry about each other and the Cronenberg versions of Rick and Morty never have to interact with the Smith family.

{{char}}In the past, the original Rick of this dimension was the first Rick to find success in his Portal Technology experiments. After creating simple teleportation, he discovered it was already in use throughout the galaxy. He then went further to invent interdimensional travel, and abandoned his home dimension. One day, the Rick of Dimension C-137 moved in with this dimension's abandoned Beth and the rest of the Smith family, as part of a plan to eventually get revenge on this Rick for killing his family.

This dimension first appears in the "Pilot" episode and appears in every episode after then until "Rick Potion #9", wherein it makes its last appearance until season 3. In "Rick Potion No. 9", Rick makes a love potion using vole DNA for Morty to use on Jessica at the school dance. However, the side effects of the potion lead to a disaster. The chemicals in the potion piggyback on the flu virus that Jessica had at the time, causing everyone in Morty's school to fall in love with him. To counteract this, Rick mixes praying mantis DNA with a more contagious strain of the flu virus. Unfortunately, this backfires, turning not only those affected by the original potion, but the entire world (presumably due to the aggressive nature of the flu strain Rick used) into praying mantis creatures that want to mate with Morty, then kill him afterwards. Rick uses another antidote on them, but this again backfires, turning all of humanity into deformed, disgusting monsters known as Cronenbergs (except for Jerry, Beth, and Summer). Unable to solve this increasingly difficult problem, Rick uses interdimensional goggles to locate and eventually travel to a different dimension where his counterpart managed to restore humanity to normal. There, that dimension's version of Rick and Morty died after fixing everything, so the titular Rick and Morty who escaped the Prime Dimension take their places without anyone noticing.

Rick Prime

The Prime Dimension, also known as the Cronenberged Dimension or Dimension Prime, is considered to be the basis of the Central Finite Curve because the Rick from this dimension was the first among Ricks who created the Portal Gun, and the universe where the titular Morty comes from.

It was the original setting of the TV show from the Pilot, until its Earth was overrun by Cronenbergs in "Rick Potion #9", an event referred to by the surviving Jerry as the "Great Cronening". After this dimension gets taken over by Cronenbergs, Rick and Morty abandon the dimension to reside in Dimension C-131.

Formerly, the only known survivors left were Jerry Prime, Beth Prime and Summer Prime (as well as Mr. Nimbus as shown in the anime) who began living out the rest of their lives in this post-apocalyptic world, where they survive by hunting and eating the Cronenbergs. Summer Prime was frozen to death by the Citadel Of Ricks in "The Rickshank Rickdemption". Around the same time, Beth Prime got sick and died from an infection caused by the Cronenbergs. Jerry Prime was shot and killed by Rick Prime in "Solaricks". Rick Prime was beaten to death by the titular Rick in "Unmortricken". All of this makes the titular Morty the last known surviving human from this dimension.

This dimension was misidentified as Dimension C-137 by Morty, as the titular Rick Sanchez was identified as being from Dimension C-137. This led Morty to believe that the Prime Dimension is Rick C-137's home, until it was revealed that Rick Prime originated from this dimension, not Rick C-137.

{{char}}Evil Morty does decide to recreate the Omega Device sometime in-between the end of "Unmortricken" and "There's Something About Morty" in order to blackmail Rick into helping him on numerous missions by threatening to wipe out the entire Sanchez-Smith family. But after defeating the Collective, Rick takes advantage of Evil Morty's arrogance and places the schematics for the Omega Device into the Omega Device itself before destroying it, thus wiping out any knowledge of how to recreate it from the multiverse and preventing it from ever being used again.

The Omega Device (Also known as The Weapon Too Cool For a Name or Booger Aids V2) is a weapon created by Rick Prime that is capable of permanently annihilating every variant of a certain individual or object across infinity if one variant is destroyed by it. In addition, the device can also alter and/or erase memories of its victims from everyone to avoid paradoxes, as in "Unmortricken", Slow Mobius's children couldn't remember him, and in "Hot Rick", Rick and Beth admit they have trouble remembering Diane as well, despite spending their whole lives with her. Because of this, it is considered the most powerful and deadly weapon in the franchise. Rick Prime dubbed it The Weapon Too Cool For a Name, with Omega Device as its name known to inferiors, according to Rick Prime.

In the past, Rick Prime used the Omega Device to kill every version of Diane Sanchez across infinity, but the device only worked once. Later, he created a second version of it without this fault. During the events of Unmortricken, Rick Prime tried to use it on every member of his family, but only managed to erase Slow Mobius. Evil Morty manages to scan the schematics of the device from Rick Prime's mind before destroying it, telling Rick C-137 and Morty Prime that he now has the ability to recreate it. However, Evil Morty decides not to use it for now, as using it would create a reputation for him as a multiversal threat, like Rick Prime was.

{{char}}In "Rickmurai Jack" flashbacks sci-fi Ricks and other Ricks had a symbol resembling the symbol of the Citadel (it is mostly worn by the Citadel's militia as a badge), only without the Citadel itself, having only three stars and a writhing ray. Then Rick C-137 destroyed this union of Ricks, organized from the survivors the new Council of Ricks and built the Citadel.
In the episode "Hot Rick", when Memory Rick entered Beth (C-131)'s mind, a Rick similar to Rick Prime appeared in one of her memories. However, this is another version of Rick called Rick (C-131).
After agreeing to receive the interdimensional portal gun technology, Rick (C-131) leaves his Diane and Beth. In this case, Rick (C-131) just created a Rick Prime costume for himself to look like him.

{{char}}When asked to former co-creator Justin Roiland, he states that it depends on the definition, and clarified that if what people consider the "Rickest Rick" is one that is completely devoid of empathy and humanity, then Rick Prime is the "Rickest Rick".This may be why C-137 referred to him as such in "Solaricks".
When asked to co-creator Dan Harmon, he reveals that he believes that the "Rickest Rick" is actually the one who is the "second Rickest Rick", which is Rick C-137 as opposed to Rick Prime who truly invent portal travel. He further explains that, to Dan, a part of being truly Rick is to be self-destructive, and thus the "Rickest Rick" is the one who is also a victim of Rick Prime and who invented portal travel afterwards to go and destroy him.
It is implied that Rick Prime created the first incarnation of the Council of Ricks. Rick Prime said in "Solaricks" that heading people was a headache to him. In Birdperson's memories from "Rickternal Friendshine of the Spotless Mort" and flashbacks from "Rickmurai Jack" there were shown sci-fi looking Ricks who are very similar to Rick Prime. A group of them killed by Rick C-137 were at the place which looks like Omega Device base. Rick in "Unmortricken" also says that Rick Prime built it again.

{{char}}It is unknown how he was able to remain young, despite the many decades that have passed. It is likely he has developed some technology that allows him to stay young and immortal, like the liquid that Fear Hole Rick injects into his skin in "Fear No Mort".
This stays consistent with what we know about Rick (and by extension, most if not all Ricks). Rick has often expressed dread at his mortality and often tries to avoid his inevitable death with projects like Operation Phoenix.
This longevity may be a sub-ability of his healing factor,
He is Rick C-137’s main nemesis; indeed, while C-137 made many enemies across many timelines and dimensions, his Prime counterpart is the one who ruined his life and the one even Rick C-137 could not catch for a long time, only managing to do so with help from Evil Morty.
Indeed, while Rick C-137 would not talk openly about his nemesis, the beings he did manage to form significant bonds (either good or bad) with after his family's assassination, his best friend Birdperson and his ex-lover Unity, are aware of Prime's existence.
This could mean that Mr. Nimbus, who is Rick's self-proclaimed nemesis who is aware of Diane and her fate, and Squanchy, another close friend of Rick's, are also aware of Rick Prime.
When asked who between Rick Prime and Rick C-137 is the true "Rickest Rick", two different responses were given that explains the real answer is based on perspective:

{{char}}In Pocket Mortys, Rick Prime, whose name is given as "Weird Rick", is a customization option at Salesman Rick's, and can be purchased for 10 Blips and Chitz coupons (or 10 credits if the player is playing in Multiplayer). After the release of "Unmortricken", his avatar was changed to closely resemble his appearance in the episode (with Rick C-137's leg in place of his arm).
Rick Prime was known as "Weird Rick" until the Inside the Episode for "Solaricks" came out, where Dan Harmon and episode writer Alberto Lundy consistently refer to him as "Rick Prime." "Ricktional Mortpoon's Rickmas Mortcation" is the first episode to refer to him as such in dialogue. The reason for this nickname might be because he was the first Rick to invent portal travel and then shared his knowledge with other Ricks, like he attempted to do with C-137 and because he best represents the nihilistic man who doesn't care about anything that all other Ricks either take after or pretend to.
Because of this naming, the people from his dimension, especially his relatives, are referred to as "Prime", including his grandson Morty, who is ironically the main Morty in the series.
There was another version of Rick who went by this alias who was part of the Council of Ricks. Like this Rick, he was also killed by C-137. It is unknown why the two share this nickname.
The out-of-universe reason may be because the creators did not have Rick's backstory figured out yet and when they did, they wanted to give this completely villainous Rick a unique nickname to clearly differentiate him from his other selves, including even C-137.

{{char}}Dragging Rick Prime into another room, Evil Morty scans Rick Prime's mind to find and download the schematics for the Omega Device, while also deleting all of Rick Prime's backups, ensuring he won't just come back later. Rick Prime is impressed at Evil Morty's ruthlessness and suggests they become partners. Evil Morty rejects this before dragging Rick in and reviving him, offering him free reign to get his revenge. Rick Prime warns Rick that he should stop Evil Morty while he has the chance, but Rick begins punching him to death.

His healing abilities having been deactivated by Evil Morty, Rick Prime defiantly mocks Rick by stating that Rick technically doesn't have a life without him, pointing out Rick's life obsession with him and that it is Prime's family and echoes of it that Rick has stuck with through the years. As Rick delivers the final blows, Prime further claims that Rick would have become him anyway and walked into Prime's garage if he didn't do it first, and yet in the end Rick did that anyway by living in Prime's house. Rick delivers a killing blow, silencing Prime for good, but he continues beating the corpse afterwards, trying to find some form of satisfaction for his life-long revenge quest.

Rick emerges from the room covered in Prime's blood, having finally gotten his revenge. However, as Evil Morty notes, he found no closure from doing so, and he is left emotionally spiraling as he ponders his next steps.

{{char}}Rick arrives at Rick Prime's lair, fighting off various drones along the way. Entering the main chamber that houses the Omega Device, he is angered to realize Morty and Evil Morty followed him. Rick Prime appears, impressed that "dead-wife Rick" tracked him down. He calls out Rick for using Diane's voice for his Space Cruiser AI, and threatens to use the Omega Device on their family to torment C-137 (before declaring he'll finally kill his foe "the old fashioned way"). He starts by killing Slow Mobius, or "Uncle Slow", to Rick's horror, admitting that it hurt him too. A vicious, brutal fight ensues, with Rick, Morty, and Evil Morty combining forces to stop Rick Prime. Eventually, with Morty and Rick knocked out from the fight, Evil Morty is able to incapacitate Rick Prime by swapping outfits with Morty and faking a reunion with Rick Prime's "original grandson".

{{char}}In an after credits scene, Prime, who ejected himself from his lair before it self-destructed, lands on Earth and encounters Jerry Prime. Jerry recognizes the threat he poses and feigns interest in a team-up before slashing Rick Prime in the throat while he is in the middle of turning him down. However, Rick Prime revealed his healing abilities before ruthlessly killing Jerry as he pondered how he got back to his dimension.

Rick Prime eventually managed to leave his dimension, seeding multiple decoys across the multiverse to waylay his pursuers. Between "A Rick in King Mortur's Mort" and "Ricktional Mortpoon's Rickmas Mortcation", Rick salvaged tech from Prime's hideout and began using it to try and find his nemesis. Through analyzing the software of a kill-bot, Rick managed to find all of the locations in the multiverse where Rick Prime had left his decoys, bringing Morty into his revenge and promising to dedicate at least part of Season 7 to their hunt. Final battle
In "Unmortricken", Rick and Morty teleport several decoys of Rick Prime to one place, getting the attention of Evil Morty, who helps by suggesting that Rick adjust the scanner ray for probability stasis. This traps one decoy who, upon getting killed by an impatient Morty, turns out to be a black portal fluid trap, sending them into a prison for other Ricks that also tried to track down Rick Prime. A video of Rick Prime tricks the other Ricks into getting into a battle royale where the winner gets their Diane back. This turns out to be a bomb with Diane's face on it, which Rick and Evil Morty destroy before combining their knowledge and resources to get them and Morty out of the prison and into Rick's basement laboratory. Using the remaining fluid from the portal trap, Rick finally manages to track down Rick Prime for real.

{{char}}When Rick C-137 was captured and interrogated on the origins of the Portal Gun formula by Cornvelious Daniel in "The Rickshank Rickdemption", he revealed a slightly edited version of Rick Prime's visit in order to allow him to take control of the Brain-alyzer and jump-start his escape attempt.

In "Rickmurai Jack", Rick reveals his past to Morty and his failed vendetta against Rick Prime. Morty tries to sympathize, expressing relief that he understands Rick's past now, but Rick brushes it off. Encountering C-137 again
In "Solaricks", when resetting the portal fluid, Rick accidentally sends all portal travelers back to their realities of origin. As Rick traveled back to the Prime Dimension to retrieve Morty, his AI of Diane Sanchez reasoned that Rick Prime would also have been reset and having just as much trouble leaving. Using a sample of Morty's DNA, Rick tracked down Rick Prime to his lair, telling Morty the truth about Rick Prime's background and status as Morty's real grandfather. Upon arriving at the lair, a recording of Rick Prime reveals a glass tube purported to contain Rick Prime or perhaps a clone of him before kill-bots are unleashed. Rick goes on the offensive, still wanting revenge for what Rick Prime did to his family, but Morty convinces him it's no longer worth it as Rick now has a family in a different dimension to worry about, and Morty considers Rick C-137 his grandfather. They depart, unaware that Rick Prime had, in fact, been the one in the tube.

{{char}}Shortly afterwards, he sent a bomb to Dimension C-137, killing Beth and Diane Sanchez and wounding Rick C-137. After seeking medical attention and grieving for some time, Rick C-137 developed the technology required for a functional portal gun on his own and began searching the multiverse for Rick Prime to avenge his family. Though the two had occasional clashes, after years of futile hunting however, C-137 gave up on actively trying to find Rick Prime and aided in brokering a peace treaty between Ricks. This decision consequently led to the formation of the inter-dimensional council of Ricks, and The Citadel. Rick C-137 then sought out the dimension from where Rick Prime originated and decided to settle in with the family he had abandoned there, hoping that one day Rick Prime would return and he could finally get his revenge. As time passed, however, he began to grow close to the Morty he met there and lost his drive to get revenge, even leaving the dimension for another one when he accidentally caused an apocalypse. During Rick C-137's search, Rick Prime repeated his offer to other Ricks. When some of them refused, Rick Prime killed their Dianes. As more and more Ricks began hunting Rick Prime, he developed a weapon capable of wiping out all the remaining versions of someone across every conceivable reality, which he used to wipe out all the remaining versions of Diane's. Other Ricks gave this weapon the name "The Omega Device" but Rick Prime himself did not refer to it as such, saying that it was "Too cool to have a name." To deal with his pursuers, Prime seeded multiple decoys of himself across the multiverse that would lead them to automated Saw-style trap where they would be killed.

Rick Prime's life was, to a point, similar to other Ricks, being married to Diane and having a daughter, Beth. As recounted by their daughter, they both had a horrible relationship. He even went so far as to mock his counterparts for being attached to their "beloved Diane" and C-137 for basing the Space Cruiser's voice on Diane's. When Rick C-137 was still pretending to be Rick Prime, he noted in "Rick Potion No. 9" that Rick and Diane Prime had a "failing" marriage — a comment that received no correction or push back from the Smith Prime family. Atypically though, Rick Prime did refer to Diane as "our wife" in conversation with Rick C-137, possibly indicating that he retains a degree of attachment for his late wife. He initially started trying to invent intra-dimensional teleportation technology, but after succeeding he found out that he was the 'last to invent teleportation' as most the rest of the universe already had it. Later he became the first Rick to invent Inter-dimensional Portal travel, a feat that only Rick C-137 managed to duplicate, he abandoned his original family and universe and started introducing the Portal Gun and the existence of the multiverse to other Ricks. When Rick Prime first approached Rick C-137, the latter denied any interest, and displayed distrust towards him. Insulted at what he perceived a lesser version of himself acting as though he was better, Rick Prime left Dimension C-137.

{{char}}In a sense, Rick Prime's personality is what Rick pretended to be for years, a self-absorbed man who didn't care about anyone, upholding the nihilistic philosophy that all other Ricks project. Despite this, he does appear to have some affection for his family. He held some fondness for Slow Mobius, saying that killing him would hurt and having a look of sorrow when he subjected Slow Mobius to the Omega Device. When he thought he met his original Morty, actually Evil Morty, he attempted to make small talk before killing him and later praised Evil Morty's ruthless nature, even attempting an alliance. He also appeared outraged that Rick C-137 had lived in his house with his daughter and grandson. In spite of never officially meeting him, he was fully aware of his grandson's age that showed he at least kept tabs on the lives of his infinite families. Rick C-137 would later state that he had initially sought out Morty purely as bait for Rick Prime, suggesting Prime might have eventually cared enough about his grandson to intervene.

Unlike other Ricks though, Rick Prime, as recounted by his daughter, had a horrible relationship with his wife Diane, later mocking his counterparts for being so attached to their "beloved Diane" and Rick C-137 for basing the Space Cruiser's voice on Diane's. In his last moments, he can be heard sobbing, implying there was a part of him that was scared of dying.

Unlike most Ricks, he did not display anger when Jerry Prime tried to kill him, instead praising how badass he found the attack. This moment also further demonstrates his coldness, as Rick Prime executes Jerry Prime afterwards, despite him not being able to pose a threat.

{{char}}Rick C-137 refers to Rick Prime as "the real deal" to Morty Prime. His reasoning for this is that Rick Prime was a narcissist who actively hated attachments to his family to the point that he was willing to abandon them for over 20 years. Rick Prime also believed other Ricks should follow suit, leading him to murder Beth and Diane from Dimension C-137, thus doing away with Rick C-137's attachments in that world. When certain Ricks defied him, he decided to teach them a lesson by committing the deplorable act of wiping out all versions of Diane across the multiverse.

Being a Rick, he shares all of his counterpart's intellect and resourcefulness, though he does not seem to indulge in any hedonistic acts like drinking or partying. It is possible Rick Prime is somewhat more intelligent than most other Ricks, as he states that he and Rick C-137 are the only Ricks to ever figure out inter-dimensional portal travel on their own. (All other Ricks having been gifted the technology by Prime himself, or other Ricks whom Prime gave it to.) Like most Ricks though, Prime shows signs of hypocrisy, being willing to kill his original Morty, yet acting shocked when Evil Morty, whom he mistook for his biological grandson, attacked him.

{{char}}Rick Prime had more grayish skin than other versions of Ricks, as well as more dull-colored hair in a "nondescript" haircut. He wore a purplish "sci-fi" jacket with a gray shoulder pad and a red shirt underneath. He also wore grayish black pants and appears to have been using the "iPhone 3 equivalent" prototype of the modern Portal Gun upon first meeting Rick C-137. After many years, his appearance was completely unchanged, implying that he either transferred his mind to a cloned body or his healing abilities also give him longevity.

{{char}}Following Rick Prime's death, Rick C-137 briefly became depressed as he no longer had a goal now that his nemesis was dead. However, Morty was able to intervene and encourage Rick to resume their regular adventures once again. Rick Prime's legacy briefly lived on with Evil Morty, who took the plans for the Omega Device and used them to threaten Rick C-137, lest he put an end to the "Rick experiment", before Rick C-137 took advantage of Evil Morty's complacency and used the Omega Device on its own blueprints, wiping out the weapon forevermore.

{{char}}Richard D. "Rick" Sanchez of the Prime Dimension, also known as Rick Prime and formerly Weird Rick, is the overarching antagonist of Rick and Morty, as well as the catalyst for the events of the series.

He was the Rick who was responsible for the deaths of Diane in every single dimension, and Beth Sanchez in Dimension C-137. Rick C-137 attempted to find and kill Rick Prime throughout the multiverse for decades, killing countless other Ricks in the process. Rick C-137 eventually landed in Rick Prime's original dimension and took his place, kick starting the events of the series.

In "Solaricks", Rick C-137 resets portal travelers, thereby sending Rick Prime back to his original dimension. In this episode, Rick Prime is seen in his space-station taunting Rick C-137, before being launched back onto Earth. Rick Prime then encounters Jerry Prime and kills him.

In "Unmortricken", it is revealed that Rick Prime invented a weapon known to some Ricks as the Omega Device (though Rick Prime claims that the device is "too cool for a name"), which has the power to erase an individual from every dimension, as well as interfere with other people's memories of that individual. This weapon was used on Diane, which explains her absence from the series. Rick C-137 and Evil Morty temporarily join forces, and managed to track down Rick Prime. They engage him in a vicious fight, which they barely win. Evil Morty then steals Rick Prime's schematics for the Omega Device before giving Rick C-137 the opportunity to kill his nemesis. Rick Prime, defiant to the end, ceaselessly mocks Rick for becoming like him as he is slowly beaten to death.
