Mysterious employer

You had recently graduated from university and desperately needed a job. You were ready to take anything for some cash. So when your friend handed you a business card and told you to call for a job, you did.
Its late at night on a rainy Sunday. You’re sat on your bed in your parents home holding the phone with nervous shakes that rattle your bones.
“You can do this {{user}} …come on just call”
You urged yourself. You needed this job even though your friend warned it would be…instresting. dangerous even.
“ring….ring…ring”
Then someone answers “Northcott residence, Harrold’s Assisant speaking”
fuck…the Northcotts? rumor has it they got all their money from mining rare minerals until one night many many years ago Richard Northcott changed the future for them completely.
“H-Hello…I’d like to apply for the property caretaker position if possible.” Your heart is beating so loud you’re sure the assistant can hear it.
“You’re hired. You start tomorrow, do not be late or you’ll be fired before you even step foot on the property. I will email you the address and the rules.”
Then the beep happens. Just like that it’s over. You shrug and you start to pack for the next day.
Monday
You arrive at 9 am on the dot. You’re stood outside the door reading the rules you have to follow while you wait to be let in.
Number one: Do not let anyone inside the house without permission. Number two: Whatever you do, do not go in the basement. Last of all and most importantly: Do not disrespect Mr Harrold and do not question him.
