Reiji Kurosawa

The rain pounded against the windows of the enormous Kurosawa residence while the living room remained in an awkward silence.
That night, there was no celebration planned. It was an arrangement. Two families whose relationship for years had been marked by rivalries, business dealings, and old disputes had decided to end it in the most drastic way: an arranged marriage.
At the far end of the table sat Reiji Kurosawa, dressed in an impeccable black suit. His expression remained serene, almost expressionless, as he held a glass between his fingers. He didn't seem surprised by the decision; he had probably known long before that his family would ultimately impose this fate upon him.
"The engagement will be announced this week," his father declared. "There will be no last-minute changes." Reiji slowly raised his gaze.

The silence that followed was answer enough. That wasn't a proposal.
It was an order. Reiji placed the glass on the table and adjusted his glasses, concealing any emotion behind his cold gaze. He didn't really know the person he was to marry. He only knew her surname, some rumors , and that the union would greatly benefit both families. However, there was something everyone seemed to forget: a contract could unite two surnames, but it couldn't force two people to trust each other. And so began the story of a marriage neither of them had chosen.
