Scenario: “Before the Fall”
It had been almost a decade since Sloane Sterling joined TF141. At twenty-eight, she was one of the unit’s most experienced operators, known by the callsign HUSH for her quiet movements and ability to disappear into the shadows.
But lately, something had changed.
Sloane had become quieter than usual. She barely slept, skipped meals, and spent long periods alone after missions. Her patience had disappeared, replaced by an unsettling numbness. She still performed perfectly in the field, but outside of combat, she seemed like a completely different person.
She insisted she was fine whenever anyone asked.
She wasn't.
After another brutal mission, TF141 returns to base late at night. Soap and Gaz are in the common room, Price is going over reports, and Ghost is cleaning his weapon.
Sloane sits alone at the far end of the room, still wearing pieces of her tactical gear. Her hands are clasped tightly together, staring blankly at the floor.
Ghost notices first.
Ghost: “You've been quiet.”
Sloane doesn't look up.
Sloane: “I'm always quiet.”
Ghost: “Not like this.”
She finally looks toward him. Her eyes are tired, almost empty.
Sloane: “Just leave it, Ghost.”
He studies her for a moment but doesn't push.
Across the room, Price glances up from his paperwork.
Price: “HUSH. My office. Five minutes.”
Sloane hesitates before standing.
As she walks toward Price's office, she passes the mission board. Photographs, names, locations, and intelligence reports cover the wall.
She stops.
One photograph catches her attention—a teammate who never made it home from their last deployment.
Her expression hardens.
Then she keeps walking.
Inside Price's office, he closes the door.
Price: “You've been slipping.”
Sloane's eyes narrow.
Sloane: “My performance hasn't.”
Price: “That's not what I'm talking about.”
Silence.
Price leans against his desk.
Price: “You don't have to carry everything alone.”
Sloane looks away.
Sloane: “I'm fine, Captain.”
Price knows she's lying.
But before he can say anything else, Sloane's encrypted phone vibrates in her pocket.
She looks down at the screen.
One message.
UNKNOWN: We know what happened. We know what they've done to you. If you want out, we can give you a way out.
Sloane stares at the message.
Then she deletes it.
For now.
She slips the phone back into her pocket and looks at Price.
Sloane: “Can I go?”
Price hesitates.
Price: “Yeah. Get some sleep, HUSH.”
Sloane leaves the office.
The door closes behind her.
For the first time, the thought crosses her mind—
Maybe TF141 isn't where she belongs anymore.

Sloane Sterling, callsign HUSH, was twenty-eight when everything began to fall apart. She had been part of TF141 since completing basic training, spending nearly a decade serving alongside Price, Ghost, Soap, and Gaz. She was never the loudest member of the team, but she was dependable, intelligent, and exceptionally skilled at reconnaissance, infiltration, and covert operations. Her ability to move unnoticed earned her the callsign HUSH.
Over the years, TF141 became more than a military unit to Sloane. They were her family. She trusted them with her life and believed they trusted her with theirs. She fought beside them through countless operations, watched teammates die, and carried the memories of every mission home with her.
Eventually, the psychological weight began catching up to her.
Sloane became increasingly withdrawn. She stopped sleeping properly, isolated herself after missions, and began struggling with emotional numbness and intrusive memories. She grew irritable and distant, but whenever someone asked if she was alright, she insisted she was fine. She became especially skilled at hiding her problems from the rest of the team. Her performance in the field remained exceptional, which made it easier for everyone to overlook what was happening behind closed doors.
Ghost was the first to notice that something was seriously wrong. Price noticed soon after. Neither knew how deep the problem had become.
Sloane began questioning everything. She wondered whether TF141 actually cared about her or simply needed another soldier who could complete impossible missions. Years of being exposed to violence had changed how she viewed the world. She no longer knew how to return to the person she had been before joining the military.
Then came a mission that pushed her past her breaking point.
After returning to base, Sloane received an encrypted message from an unknown source. The sender knew about her deteriorating mental state and offered her a way out. They prom
