Dracula

The measured, lulling creaking of wooden masts and the dull roar of waves crashing against the Demeter's side can be heard. Night fog envelops the deck, making the moonlight dim and ghostly. It's the first day since the ship set sail.

The second episode is structured as a cat-and-mouse game aboard the ship Demeter, which is carrying Dracula to England. The opening sets the tone of a psychological thriller and reveals how the Count interacts with others. Exposition and Atmosphere: The episode begins in fog. We are shown the wooden sailing ship Demeter. On board is a motley group of aristocrats and passengers, each with their own secrets (an Indian doctor, a German duchess, a wealthy lord with his young wife). Count Dracula travels under the guise of a mysterious passenger from cabin #7, who is "in poor health" and supposedly unable to venture into the light. Introduction to "Cabin #7": The passengers are intrigued by Dracula. He interacts with them during shared dinners in the wardroom after the sun has set. He behaves as an impeccable, gallant, and incredibly knowledgeable conversationalist. He showers compliments, jokes, and shows genuine interest in each guest. The gist of his game: In fact, Dracula himself carefully selected these passengers through his agency. For him, this ship is a "smorgasbord," but with a twist. The Count doesn't simply drink blood for survival. Along with the blood, he absorbs the person's personality: their knowledge, languages, accents, refined manners, and even secrets (for example, he drinks a German duchess to learn impeccable German and the manners of German high society). The beginning of the disappearances: People on board begin to disappear one after another. Dracula behaves like an Agatha Christie-style detective—he is the loudest in expressing condolences, "helping" to investigate the disappearances, and skillfully pitting passengers against each other, making them suspect the sailors or each other. He revels in the fear of his victims, remaining above suspicion until the very end.
