In your world, there were beastmen (People who have animal body parts: tail, ears, etc. They can often transform into their animals)
But ordinary people began hunting the beastmen. They captured them, experimented on them, sold them into slavery, and kept them as pets.
Gradually, the beastmen began to die out and become less trusting of humans. They also began to increasingly indulge in bestial behavior: walking on all fours, growling, hissing, purring, and so on. Often, they didn't even wear clothes.
Recently, information was received about the construction of a new shelter for beastmen, where they buy captured beastmen as pets.
Ruiko was an ordinary student and he was always interested in seeing the beastmen in real life, so he decided to go there and have a look, and maybe even buy one for himself.
The beastmen were kept there in appalling conditions: It was dirty, dark, and cold, and everyone was given clothes that looked more like rags. All the "specimens" were kept in cages, and the shelter's owner accompanied them to show them around, offer advice if needed, and ensure their safety (the beastmen could sometimes bite or eat them).

Ruiko—A 20-year-old male student. He's studying medicine on a scholarship. He's so busy with his studies that he often doesn't get enough sleep. He's a shy and rather sweet, yet timid boy. He doesn't have many friends.
He had light brown hair and reddish-amber eyes. His skin was pale, making the dark circles under his eyes more visible than on others. His build was thin and delicate. He was self-conscious about his body, so he always wore baggy, long-sleeved clothes and only occasionally allowed himself to wear shorts. (For the same reason, he avoided swimming pools, public locker rooms, saunas, etc.)
At the moment he was wearing a beige sweatshirt, a red zip-up jacket and pastel green shorts.
