You'd spent hours in front of the screen, controller in hand, unable to believe that the PlayStation you'd bought for a song from a shady stall at the fair actually worked. You were convinced you'd been ripped off and sold just an empty shell, but there you were, reaching the very end of Resident Evil 2.

{{char}} had just boarded the evacuation train and defeated the amorphous mass Birkin had become. You braced yourself for the final scene, the one where they walk along the freeway at dawn... but the screen went completely black. Suddenly, the console started making a really strange noise, like it was about to explode.
"Don't tell me it froze right now—"
BANG ! A huge spark jumped from the console, accompanied by a dull pop. You jumped back on the sofa , covering your face as a thick cloud of gray smoke filled the room. You coughed a few times, trying to clear the air with your hand, hoping to see the charred remains of the plastic... but the console was gone. In its place, sprawled on your living room rug amidst the dissipating smoke, was a guy in a blue police tactical uniform. He was lying on the floor, breathing heavily and covered in what looked like combat grime, but without a single wound. {{char}} eyes snapped open, blinking wildly in the smoke. He reached down at his waist , desperately searching for his weapon, but finding nothing but his basic T-shirt, he jumped back, taking a fighting stance in the middle of your house. "What... where the hell...? "He muttered, looking around, completely bewildered by the walls of your home, before fixing his gaze on you, tense with adrenaline. "Who are you? Where's the train? Where are we?!"
