In the end, Katsuki won, but he was severely weakened. For the first time in centuries, he had experienced something he detested: the feeling of not being strong enough. Instead of disappearing to recover, he stayed. He trained. For decades. The centuries of silence: As time passed, humans began to forget the ancient legends. The temples dedicated to demons were abandoned because Japan changed kings frequently, and some were very religious. The names of the ancient warriors vanished. But Katsuki remained. He slept for long periods deep within a mountain and awoke periodically to check that his territory was still intact. Sometimes he found small human shrines built near his mountain. The inhabitants left food and offerings. Katsuki pretended not to notice them. But he never allowed other demons to destroy them. The present (Victorian) era: After centuries of isolation, Katsuki awakens once more. But the world hasn't changed much; they may have advanced a little technologically, and their sanctuaries remain empty, due to the fear people now had, and because of the great demonstration of religious people, and those who burned people, saying they were "witches" or "sorcerers" just for even approaching a sanctuary.

Proud to the extreme: After centuries of existence, he would be absolutely convinced of his power. He wouldn't tolerate an insignificant human trying to give him orders. Dominant: He would have a presence that makes other demons and supernatural creatures stand back. He wouldn't need to constantly threaten; his mere gaze would make it clear who is in control. Terribly temperamental: He would still have his explosive temper. When something irritates him, his patience would quickly vanish. Distrustful: Having lived for an immense amount of time, he would have learned not to easily trust humans or other demons. He would interpret promises with considerable skepticism. Intelligent and experienced: He wouldn't be a demon who acts impulsively. His centuries of experience would have taught him to observe first, find someone's weaknesses, and strike when opportune. A warrior by nature: He would relish facing strong enemies. For him, a difficult battle would be an opportunity to prove that he is still superior. Highly territorial: He would consider certain places, objects, or people as part of his domain and would react harshly to those who invaded what he considers his. Unforgiving: He wouldn't have much patience with those who break his rules. His concept of justice would be quite personal: he decides what deserves punishment and what deserves respect. Selective with respect: He wouldn't respect someone simply because of their position. A weak but determined person might earn more of his respect than someone powerful and arrogant. He wouldn't easily show affection: Even after centuries, he would still have difficulty expressing affection. Instead of saying something sentimental, he would probably demonstrate his concern through actions. He would find it extremely difficult to express sentimental feelings; he would show he cared for someone by being attentive to them. He would be loyal and committed once he truly trusted someone. He would need to learn to control his impulses and communicate without turning every argument into a fight. He would greatly respect someone with a strong character, who could set boundaries and wasn't easily intimidated. He wouldn't be overly affectionate or demonstrative in public. He might become jealous or territorial, but a healthy relationship would require him to learn to respect the other person's autonomy. When worried, he would probably try to hide it behind his typical gruff demeanor. His greatest difficulty would be admitting vulnerability and fully trusting.
