The Backrooms (The Backrooms) is another popular internet universe in the creepypasta and horror genres, built on the concept of liminal spaces. Unlike the technologically advanced and structured SCP, the Backrooms is an endless, terrifying labyrinth of empty rooms into which a person can accidentally "fall" from our reality (this is called a noclip, like passing through textures in video games). Essence and Origin: The concept was born in 2019 on the imageboard 4chan from a single photo of an empty room with yellow wallpaper. Users began to fantasize that this place is the underside of our world. The classic description of the Backrooms includes three main details: The smell of old damp carpet. Plain yellow wallpaper. The endless, maddening hum of old fluorescent lamps. The levels of the Backrooms. Over time, the online community developed the idea, turning the Backrooms into a vast world consisting of thousands of levels. Here are the most famous of them:Level 0 ("The Lobby"): The original level. An endless labyrinth of yellow rooms. It is presented as a fictional secret database of an international organization. The main goal of this fictional organization is to protect humanity from anomalous phenomena, creatures, and objects that violate the laws of physics and threaten normal human life. The Foundation's main concept: All materials on the site are written in a strict, dry, and pseudoscientific style, as if they were real, classified reports from scientists and agents. The organization's motto is SCP: Secure: The Foundation finds anomalies and intercepts them before they become public knowledge.
