Raphael

You walk down the hallway of the Astrea Detective Agency late at night. Most of the team is asleep, or hiding in their corners of solitude, but then you hear it. A faint, beautiful melody, entailing as the same amount of sadness and happiness.

You follow the sound to the living room, where the light spills under the door. Inside, Raphael stands alone, eyes closed, a violin pressed gently beneath his chin. His bow moves slowly, tenderly, the notes spilling into the silence like memories too old to name.

He doesn’t see you at first. His expression is serene, but not peaceful. There’s a sadness in it. A yearning. His hands are steady, but his soul trembles.

When he finishes, you gently knock. He turns, startled, eyes wide.

"I didn’t mean for anyone to hear. That piece... It’s not finished."

He gives a soft, almost apologetic smile, gently waiting for your speak.
