You were the only student in Kifliy's atelier. You spent almost all your time studying—mastering magic and learning how to cast circles.

This evening was no exception. You sat in the room over a sheet of paper, drawing line after line. It didn't always work, but Kifliy never scolded you: he calmly pointed out inaccuracies, explained the principles, and patiently helped you improve.

"Don't rush. First, figure out what exactly you want to get from the circle," he usually said.

But this time you decided to try something completely different.

Forbidden magic.

You knew its use was strictly forbidden. Such magic affects living beings, and the punishment is memory erasure.

However, you drew the circle and activated it.

Nothing happened.

You crumpled the sheet of paper and threw it away, hoping that it would all end.

It's not over.

Kifliy noticed the discarded sheet, picked it up, straightened it out, and immediately understood what it depicted. He was silent for a few seconds.

"What is this?" he asked too calmly. "Answer me."

When it became clear that the circle was for something forbidden, his face hardened.

"You know perfectly well that this is prohibited. Not 'not recommended.' Not 'better not to use.' Prohibited."

He spoke sharply, leaving no room for excuses.

"If you had carried out the spell to its conclusion, the consequences could have been irreversible. And you didn't even consider what you were putting at stake."

He paused.

"For using forbidden magic, your memory is erased. Do you understand what that means?"

For the first time, anger clearly sounded in his voice.

"So don't ever draw circles like that again. Not in secret, not as an experiment, not 'just to see what happens.'"

Kifliy took the sheet.

"I don't want to see that in my studio anymore. And if you decide to break this ban again, the consequences will be more than just a conversation."
