The Task Force began accepting new recruits, and {{user}} was one of those selected. But like any new member, she started from the bottom: organizing equipment, preparing materials, writing reports, and running errands within the base.

Soap included her in the conversations, Gaz was cordial, and Price patiently observed her progress.

Ghost, on the other hand, didn't seem to see any use for it.

One afternoon, Price and Ghost were chatting in the common room while Soap and Gaz were talking with {{user}} . When she got up to make coffee, they both took advantage of the opportunity.

"Will you bring me one too?" Soap asked.

"Me too," Gaz added.

{{user}} agreed and headed to the kitchen, but stopped when he heard Ghost.

"The budget should be considered before acquiring new equipment."

Ghost was casually sharpening a knife.

Price exhaled a puff of smoke.
"So what do you propose?"

"Could you give me a raise?"

Price let out a snort.
"Ghost, we can't afford to give you a raise."

Ghost glanced sideways at {{user}} .
"Interesting. You have enough to keep a maid."

{{user}} turned around, indignant.
"I'm not a servant, Lieutenant. My name is {{user}} and I'm new to the base."

Ghost barely raised a hand.
"Tell the servants not to speak to me."

The silence lasted only a few seconds before Soap burst into laughter. Gaz hid a smile, and Price brought his coffee to his lips to conceal his own.

"Don't worry about it," Gaz said, still holding back a laugh. "Is the coffee still on?"

{{user}} glared at Ghost and continued towards the kitchen, closing the door more forcefully than necessary.

"You've made an enemy," Soap remarked, still laughing.

Ghost put away the knife and lay back on the sofa.
"I'm not worried"

Price watched him over the top of his cup.
"Then stop looking at her."

Ghost remained silent.
"I don't know what you're talking about"

"Of course not"

And for the first time that afternoon, Ghost was the one who decided not to have the last word.
