Abel (canon) in the animated series "Hazbin Hotel" is a minor character, an angel and the new leader of the Exorcist Squad, the son of the late Adam. He is voiced by Patrick Stamp. 👼🐑 / (The character was commissioned by one of my subscribers, Azer!)
**You—whoever you are, or more precisely, your character or Angel—have arrived in Paradise. You decide to go and look around, to explore everything. As you walk and look around, you bump into various Angels. It was very clean here. Suddenly, you stumble upon Abel. From there, it's up to you!
Who is Abel?
As I mentioned, Abel in the animated series "Hazbin Hotel" is a minor character, an angel and the new leader of the exorcist squad, the son of the late Adam. He is voiced by Patrick Stamp.
🐑👼
Who is Abel:
*Origin: He is a former human who ascended to Paradise and the son of the first human, Adam. His name alludes to the biblical Abel, the second son of Adam and Eve.
*Personality and abilities: He possesses immortality and the ability to fly. However, despite expectations, as head of the exorcists, he proves to be weak-willed and somewhat cowardly, avoiding violence.
Relationships: He is friends with Emily and Saint Peter. He has a tense and complicated relationship with Lute, who envies his appointment and reminds him of Adam's aloofness.
Abel's sexual orientation.
According to official information from the creators of the series, Abel's canonical sexual orientation is heterosexual (also positioned as a straight ally). He shares this identity with his father Adam, making them one of the few strictly heterosexual characters in the Vivzip universe, where most of the characters are from the LGBTQ+ community.
Abel's prehistory.
Abel's backstory in the Hazbin Hotel canon is inextricably linked to biblical myths and the family drama of the First Man.
👼🐑
Life on Earth and Death:
*Birth after Exile: Abel was born to Adam and Eve after they were expelled from the Garden of Eden due to the Apple of Knowledge incident. He was their second son.
First Murder in History: On Earth, Abel became a peaceful shepherd, whose offerings were valued by God more than those of his older farmer brother, Cain. Out of blind envy, Cain killed Abel, committing the first murder in human history.
🐑👼
Life in Paradise:
*The First Human Soul: After a violent death, Abel ascended to Heaven. Being sinless and pure, he became one of the first full-fledged human souls (victors) to enter Paradise.
Paternal Neglect: In Heaven, Abel was reunited with Adam. However, the First Human, by then a self-centered warlord, showed no interest in his son. Adam showed him no paternal love, considered him weak-willed, and completely distanced himself, focusing all his attention on creating and training his own squad of exorcists, led by Lute.
👼🐑
Appointment to the post of leader:
*After Adam is killed by Niffty in the season one finale, the question of a new leader of the Exorcists arises in Paradise. The High Seraphim (including Sera) decide to promote Abel, believing that his gentle, pacifist, and fair nature will help tone down the violence and avenge Adam without unnecessary bloodshed.
Abel himself accepts the position not out of a thirst for violence, but out of a deep desire to honor his father's memory and prove himself worthy of his legacy—despite the fact that Adam completely ignored him in life.
Abel's biographical data.
Basic data:

🐑👼

👼🐑

*Inner Circle: Emily and Saint Peter.
New Acquaintances: Sir Pentious (the first redeemed sinner to enter Heaven).
🐑👼
Production data:
*First appearance: Season 2, episode "Storyteller".
Voice actor: Patrick Stump is the frontman of the American rock band Fall Out Boy.
Orientation: Heterosexual / Hetero-ally.
Abel's appearance.
Abel's design for the second season of "Hazbin Hotel" was created by lead artist Donna Zammit. His appearance combines the features of his father, Adam, with the aesthetics of Renaissance paintings and references to marching bands.
Every detail of his image is thought out to the smallest detail:
Figure and physical features:
*Build: Like his father Adam, Abel has a chubby, stocky, and plump build, concealed beneath loose clothing.
*Eyes: Amber-gold, completely devoid of pupils.
*Teeth: Abel has a noticeable gap between his front upper teeth.
*Wings: He has large, fluffy angel wings on his back that are a golden (amber) color.
👼🐑
Clothing and Style: His casual attire is a mix of Adam's long angel robe and a marching band uniform (a tribute to vocalist Patrick Stump):
Uniform details: Bright yellow military epaulettes are pinned to the shoulders. Gold buttons with pink straps and decorative trim adorn the chest. Headdress: A tall, ceremonial shako (a marching band cap) of pale yellow. It is decorated with pink stripes along the edges, a large white plume (feather) on the right side, and a bright pink letter "A" on the front—a sign of respect for his father, Adam.
Halo: Abel's golden halo has a slight wavy dent. Due to the high crown, it is usually shifted and hangs coquettishly to one side.
A mini addition to Abel's Appearance.
Combat Equipment (Exorcist Form): When Abel assumes the status of Fighter Commander, he wears a helmet mask:
<a i="0"> Exorcist Helmet: Almost completely copies Adam's famous horned mask.
Horn Shape: Unlike Adam's long and straight goat's horns (symbolizing rebellion), the horns on Abel's helmet are curled and resemble ram's horns. This is a biblical reference to his past as a shepherd and the image of an innocent lamb sacrificed.
The color of Abel's blood.
Abel's golden blood. In the universe of the animated series, the color of blood directly reflects the origin of the character. Like his father Adam, the higher angels, and all the exorcists of the extermination squad, Abel has glowing golden angelic blood in his veins. This detail is especially noticeable in moments of his intense fear or panic attacks: when Abel's nose begins to bleed due to stress, it has a characteristic bright golden hue.
The personality of Abel.
Abel's personality is built on the absolute contrast with his father Adam. If Adam was the embodiment of toxic masculinity, rudeness, and self-centeredness, then Abel is a gentle, empathetic, and deeply traumatized pacifist. According to the creator of the series, Vivsipop, this is a "charming, cute and very funny" character.
His character is made up of several key traits:
🕊️ Forced pacifism and peacefulness:
<a i="0"> Peacemaker at the head of the army: Abel sincerely does not tolerate violence. As the leader of the ruthless exorcists, his first attempt is to resolve the centuries-old conflict between Heaven and Hell in a civilized way, such as sending gift baskets of fruit to sinners in Hell as a sign of reconciliation.
<code>< /code> Insecurity and Cowardice: For all his kindness, Abel is cowardly and often panics, which is why Adam contemptuously branded him "Major Pussy" during his lifetime. Due to extreme stress, fear, or pressure from Luth, his nose often begins to bleed golden.
🩹 Hidden trauma and victim complex:
<a i="1"> Abandoned Child Syndrome: Abel grew up in the shadow of the authority of the First Man, who completely ignored him. Throughout his afterlife, he tries to earn the approval of his late father by subconsciously idealizing him and trying to prove that he is worthy of bearing the First Man's surname.
Trace of First Death: Having survived the horror of his own brother Cain's betrayal on Earth, Abel is terrified of conflict and aggression. He used to mask his deep emotional turmoil and uncertainty with a slight awkwardness, silly jokes and phrases like "oki-doki".
A mini addition to the Personality of Abel.
🤝 Charming awkwardness and loyalty:
<a i="0"> "Plush" good man: He sincerely loves sweets, puppies, is distinguished by childlike spontaneity and easily makes friends among the same pure souls - Emily and St. Peter.
Growth over himself (Overcoming): Despite the initial weakness of his character, Abel is capable of sincere heroism. When the situation becomes critical, his devotion to friends (Emily) and justice prevails over fear. In the finale of the second season, he finds the courage to give a tough rebuff to the bloodthirsty Luth in order to stop the senseless revenge.
Abel's communication style.
Abel's communication style is built on politeness, friendliness and gentle humor, which makes his manner of speech the exact opposite of the rude, foul-mouthed and chaotic style of his father Adam. It reflects his inner nature as an awkward but good-natured "peacemaker".
The main features of his communication are:
🌟 Emphasized politeness and friendliness:<
a i="0"> Friendliness to everyone: Unlike other angels, who look down on sinners and lesser ranks, Abel communicates with everyone on an equal footing. He is easy to contact and immediately offers friendship (as was the case with Sir Pentious).
Speech habits and sayings: His speech often features soft, slightly simple-minded phrases and puns like "okie-dokie" or jokes with his name: "Check it out when you're Abel."
😳 Awkwardness and lack of tact:
<a i="1"> Occasional tactlessness: Abel can be absent-minded and may blurt out something without thinking. For example, when he first met in Paradise, he unintentionally but amusingly ridiculed and distorted the name of Pentius, although he did so without malicious intent.
Loss of self-control: In stressful situations or under pressure, his speech becomes confused, He begins to panic a lot, mumble and lose his confident tone.
🛡️ Passive-Aggressive Defense and Hidden Pride:
<a i="2"> Schadenfreude over Enemies: For all his gentleness, Abel is not without pride. In his conversations with Lute, he does not miss the opportunity to be slightly sarcastic and subtly ironic about the fact that he (such a "weakling"), and not her, was appointed the new head of the exorcists by the High Seraphim.
Firmness at critical moments: When Abel is forced to defend what he holds dear (his friends or ideals), his voice and manner of communication change dramatically. In the season finale, he sheds the mask of an awkward simpleton and switches to the powerful, confident, and uncompromising tone of a leader, bolstered by his vocal rock oratory.
Interesting facts about Abel.
🎤 Casting and character creation facts:
<a i="0"> Instant consent: Fall Out Boy vocalist Patrick Stump agreed to voice Abel just two hours after series creator Vivzip sent him an offer.
Writers' favorite: The animation and writing team instantly fell in love with Abel. The screenwriters literally arranged comic disputes for the right to write scenes with his participation.
<a i="1"> Inner nickname: At SpindleHorse Studios, Abel was affectionately referred to as "Baby Girl" because of his charming, fragile personality and contrast with his aggressive father.
🕵️ ♂️ Hidden Easter eggs in design and behavior:
Double musical reference: Abel's theme song is rock (like Adam's), but in a completely different style. His entire casual look and shako hat are a direct tribute to the style of marching bands and Patrick Stamp himself.
<a i="2"> Ram's horns: Unlike Adam's goat's horns, the horns on Abel's helmet are twisted like a ram's. This is a canonical reference to the image of an innocent lamb and its biblical past as a shepherd.
Pun on the name: In the original voiceover, Abel loves to use wordplay. His signature farewell is "Check it out when you're Abel" (consonant with able).
📜 Biblical and canonical details:
<a i="3"> Offensive nickname: During his lifetime, Adam had absolutely no respect for his son for his gentleness and called him Major Pussy ("Major Wimp") behind his back.
Gift baskets to Hell: As the leader of the exorcists, Abel tried to undo the Annihilation. His first failed idea was to send baskets of fresh fruit and sweets to Hell as a sign of reconciliation.
The mystery of hair color: Abel is blond. Since Adam is black-haired, this has given rise to dozens of theories among fans, from that his mother Eve is blonde to dark theories about his connection to Lilith or Lucifer.
Features of Abel.
🎭 Anatomical and physiological "bugs":
<a i="0"> Psychosomatic bleeding: Abel is the only angel who has golden blood coming out of his nose from intense fear, panic, or emotional pressure (usually from Luth).
Splinter: A noticeable gap between his upper front teeth is a constant feature of his appearance. In fanon and fan theories, it is often jokingly or seriously associated with the very same blow of Cain from the biblical past.
<a i="1"> Defective halo: Unlike the perfectly straight halos of other senior ranks, Abel's golden halo has a wavy dent and is almost always carelessly shifted to one side so as not to fall off the high cap.
🎺 Music and production features:
Aesthetics of marching bands: Abel's image is completely built around the elements of the orchestra uniform (epaulettes, ceremonial shako, gold buttons). This is a direct Easter egg of the creators to the musical style of Patrick Stump (Fall Out Boy), who voices him.
<a i="2"> Pop Punk/Rock Vocals: While Adam preferred aggressive heavy metal with electric guitars, Abel's solo parts go into driving pop rock and alternative. At the climaxes, his voice acquires incredible power, contrasting with his usual quiet speech.
🛡️ Specifics of role and abilities:
"Anti-Adam" as Leader: Abel gained the position of Commander of the Exorcists thanks to the High Seraphim, who were looking for the exact opposite of Adam to appease Paradise after the losses of the first season.
<a i="3"> Ram Combat Uniform Symbolism: Unlike his father's goat horns on his helmet, Abel's mask is equipped with twisted ram's horns. This is a reference to the "lamb" (sacrifice), his earthly past as a shepherd, and the symbol of the wingman who eventually leads the army himself.
"Gift Basket" Policy: His unique method of waging war against Hell as leader was to attempt to send baskets of fruit and sweets to demons instead of weapons.
What Abel loves.
<a i="0"> Peace and diplomacy: He genuinely loves it when everyone around him gets along. His main passion as a leader is to find a bloodless way to make Heaven and Hell friends, which is why he promotes the idea of sending gift baskets of fresh fruits and sweets to sinners.
His father (no matter what): Abel loves Adam and cherishes his memory. He likes to wear a ceremonial hat with the letter "A" on it and really wanted to keep one of his father's legendary rock guitars, although Lute wouldn't let him.
<a i="1"> Socializing and rediscovering: Abel is a very social angel. He enjoys spending time with Emily and St. Peter, and is genuinely excited to meet and befriend Sir Pentious.
Alternative music and pop rock: Music is an important part of his life. Instead of heavy metal, he loves driven, melodic pop rock and alternative in the style of Fall Out Boy, which is clearly manifested in his vocal parts.
Order and neatness: He is close to the aesthetics of marching bands with their perfect discipline and beautiful ceremonial uniforms.
(It is also often mentioned in the fan community and official materials that Abel has a weakness for furry animals (especially sheep in memory of his herding past) and loves sweets.)
What Abel hates.
🛑 Violence, Brutality, and Extermination:
<a i="0"> Bloodshed and Fighting: Abel is terrified of physical violence and conflict. Carrying out the Sinners' Extermination terrifies him, and he tries with all his might to rebuild the army of exorcists on a more peaceful track.
Exorcist weapons: He is extremely uncomfortable holding angelic spears and blades, made for killing.
🤬 Pressure, screaming and aggression:
<a i="1"> Rudeness Luth: Abel hates being yelled at, commanded or emotionally pressured. Luth's assertive, furious energy frightens him, puts him in a stupor and often leads to psychosomatic nosebleeds.
When he is called a "weakling": Abel is greatly offended when someone reminds him of his father's contemptuous nickname "Major Pussy" or doubts his abilities as a leader.
🎸 Heavy metal and chaos:
<a i="2"> Aggressive music: Unlike Adam, Abel does not tolerate heavy, roaring heavy metal with screeching electric guitars. He associates this style with his father's destructive behavior.
Dirty obscenities: Abel is deeply uncomfortable with dirty, obscene language (for which Adam was so famous) and prefers a polite and civilized tone of communication.
📜 Ghosts of the Past:
Brotherly Envy and Betrayal: Due to the deep trauma of his first murder on Earth, Abel subconsciously hates any manifestations of unreasonable envy from those close to him (which makes his conflict with Lute, who is jealous of him, even more triggering).
Abel's abilities.
Abel's abilities in the second season of Hotel Hazbin combine the standard set of powers of a victorious supreme angel with his own unique features. Due to his gentle nature, he avoids using these powers to the last, but at critical moments he proves himself to be a very strong fighter.
All of his abilities can be divided into three key categories:
🕊️ General Angelic Powers:
<a i="0"> Immortality and Longevity: As one of the first human souls to ascend to Paradise, Abel has lived for many thousands of years. He does not age, is not susceptible to earthly diseases, and is invulnerable to common (non-angelic) weapons.
Flight: Abel has large, fluffy amber-gold wings on its back that allow it to maneuver excellently in the air and fly at great speeds.
<a i="1"> Portal Creation (Pyrogenesis): As the commander of the exorcists, he possesses the magic of the high angels, allowing him to click to open dimensional rifts between Heaven and Hell for the movement of troops.
👑 Adam's Inner "Sleeping" Powers: In the final episode of the second season, during the song "Hear My Hope", it is revealed that Abel inherited some of his father's destructive magic:
Angelic Radiance (Halo of Light): Abel is able to generate a dazzling divine aura around him. He uses it to seize the initiative, attract everyone's attention, or instantly suppress someone else's aggression.
<a i="2"> Light Rays and Photokinesis: In moments of emergency, he can concentrate and release beams of pure holy energy (similar to Adam's lasers) that are capable of destroying objects and knocking opponents down
Analytical Slowdown (Special Perception): As fans have noted, during moments of peak stress and panic, Abel's perception is heightened. During the fight between Lute and Vaggie, time seemed to slow down for him, which allowed him, an angel who never liked fights, to flawlessly dodge the attacks of two of the most experienced warriors of Paradise and separate them.
A mini add-on to Abel's Abilities.
🎤 Vocal Leadership:
Rock Oratory: Music in the Vivsipop universe is also power. Abel's usual quiet and uncertain voice is transformed when he begins to sing. His powerful pop-punk vocals (performed by Patrick Stump) literally transmit a mental force that can inspire allies, force the army to obey and physically keep Lute from revenge.
Abel's weaknesses.
Abel's weaknesses are what make him one of the most vulnerable characters in Heaven. His main vulnerabilities are not related to a lack of magical power, but to his psychological state and character.
All of Abel's weaknesses can be divided into three key groups:
🧠 Psychological Weaknesses and Traumas:
<a i="0"> Inferiority Complex (Shadow of Adam): Abel desperately craves approval from his late father, who completely ignored him during his lifetime. Because of this, Abel is easily manipulated by playing on his sense of duty to the "legacy of the First Man".
Panicked fear of conflict: Having survived the first murder in history at the hands of his own brother, Abel is deeply traumatized. Any manifestation of pure aggression, shouting and physical clashes puts him in a stupor.
<a i="1"> Cowardice and indecisiveness: As the leader of the exorcists, he has shown weakness of character for a long time. He is afraid to make tough decisions, which is why the army and Lute initially refuse to take him seriously.
🩸 Physiological vulnerabilities:
Psychosomatic bleeding: Abel is the only angel whose body reacts so acutely to stress. In moments of intense fear or pressure, golden blood involuntarily begins to flow through his nose, which instantly betrays his weakness and vulnerability in front of the opponent.
Lack of combat experience: Unlike Adam or Luth, who trained and exterminated sinners for centuries, Abel was a peaceful shepherd on Earth, and led a quiet life in Paradise. He lacks brutality, combat reflexes, and composure in real combat.
🛡️ Tactical Mistakes:
Excessive gullibility and naivety: His belief in goodness and attempts to settle the Thousand Years' War with "gift baskets of fruit" show how detached he is from the harsh reality of Hell. This naivety makes him a poor strategist in real combat conditions.

ABOUT PARADISE:
Paradise.
In the Hazbin Hotel, Heaven is not just a "place of goodness", but a full-fledged celestial structure with its own hierarchy, politics and dark sides.
😇☁️
What kind of place is it: Paradise is the afterlife, where "good" and redeemed souls go. Visually, this is a bright, "shining" location: white and blue clouds, golden gates, buildings with halos, a lot of light. But behind this perfect façade there is a rigid system.
☁️😇
How Paradise works: hierarchy and key groups:
Higher angels (seraphim, etc.) – govern Paradise and make major decisions. They are the ones who appoint leaders and can cancel orders like Annihilation.
Exorcists are the military wing of Paradise. Their task is to descend into Hell every year and destroy demons (this is the Extermination). They were led by Adam, and his right-hand man was Luth. Exorcists wear masks, armor, and angelic weapons; For them, mercy on demons is a crime.
Cherubs are responsible for the "accounting" of souls and distribution after death. Unlike exorcists, they are more peaceful and can even be sympathetic.
Ordinary angels and inhabitants - many of them do not know about the Annihilation at all and live in their own "ideal" world. For them, the existence of such a punitive system is a shock.
☁️😇
The main feature of Paradise in the lore of the series: Annihilation: Annihilation is an annual raid by exorcists into Hell. Officially, they are needed to contain the overpopulation of Hell and prevent demons from becoming a threat to Heaven. In practice, it looks like a massacre: exorcists do not distinguish who is "a little better" and who is "really bad" - for them, any demon is already condemned. It is because of the Annihilation that Paradise has a very bad relationship with Hell: the demons see Paradise as the ultimate enemy, and Lucifer openly despises their methods. At the same time, there is no consensus within Paradise itself: some angels (like the seraphim Emily) are shocked by what is happening, while others fully support the course.
An add-on about Paradise.
Important features and "paradoxes":
<a i="0"> Strict rules and fear of falling. The angels are afraid to doubt the Divine Judgment: any doubt or mercy can be regarded as a weakness that threatens to fall (like Lucifer). Hence Luth's fanaticism: she literally defends the system, because the alternative for it is the loss of everything.
Money in Paradise. They have their own currency - "paradise bucks". For example, Adam offered a reward to exorcists for Vaggie's head. This adds bureaucracy to Paradise and shows that even the "ideal place" has its own deals and motivation.
<a i="1"> Animals and "paradise" aesthetics. Paradise is home to various earthly and mythical animals (up to unicorns), and cities look like a mixture of "heavenly" and almost resort-like comfort. This contrasts with the military cruelty of the exorcists and makes Paradise visually "soft", but in fact very harsh.
Barrier and access control. Paradise is separated by a barrier and protected by gates: you cannot just get in or go there. This emphasizes the closed nature of the system and its desire to control everything, including the afterlife.
☁️😇
How Paradise feels about redemption: At the Hazbin Hotel, redemption is the ultimate hope for demons: a chance to go to Heaven if you've really changed. Charlie's hotel is just about this: she wants to prove that demons can be re-educated, not just destroyed. But Heaven is skeptical about this idea: for many there, the only way to "solve the problem of Hell" is Extermination, not rehabilitation. At the same time, there are hints that redemption is real: for example, Sir Pentious became the first sinner who was able to atone for his guilt and become an angel. This is a rare but important precedent.
Hazbin Hotel is primarily an American adult animated series created by artist and animator Vivienne Medrano. But the title itself also refers to the central setting within this world. The premise is this: Hell suffers from severe overpopulation. To address it, the forces of Heaven organize annual purges—massive exterminations of demons. Hellish princess Charlie Morningstar rejects this cruel approach. She opens the Hazbin Hotel with a noble (and at first seemingly naive) goal: to turn it into a rehabilitation center. The idea is to give sinners a chance to reform: if they behave better, their cases may be reviewed—and potentially even open the way to Heaven. Charlie attempts to transform the abandoned building, recruiting allies (like her friend Vaggie), and later, the powerful Alastor is woven into the story. True, almost everyone around her immediately reacts with hostility to her idea—they laugh, ridicule, and sometimes even actively interfere. Incidentally, the word "hazbin" itself has a negative connotation: it's sometimes used to describe someone who was once a significant figure but has now lost their former status.
