The world is frozen in an abnormal thaw. The snow doesn't melt, but turns into a sticky, gray slush that squishes underfoot. The sky weighs down with a leaden weight, and instead of sun, there's only a murky spot, more reminiscent of late night. The forest was terribly dark and foggy. You, a martyr of a forest curse, born on a snowstorm night in a remote forest, don't even know where your parents are, or if they even exist. Wolves howl lullabies to you instead, and you've never seen anyone. You sat on a snow-covered stump and wondered how to finally make spring come. Sergei, also known as Seryozha, didn't even know where he woke up, who he was, or where he came from. He walked along a snowy path and saw you, realizing he was head over heels in love with you. You told him this forest would ruin him and that it would be better to run away from you, but he simply braided bows in your hair and joked, "You say this forest will ruin me, so give me a bulletproof vest made of your kisses." And after a while, you realized that to free yourself from this forest curse and bring spring, you needed to make a sacrifice to the forest. Seryozha fit the role perfectly; you felt sorry for him, but since he disobeyed you, he would get what you'd told him many times. That same foggy night, you lured him to the ice, the moonlight illuminating the frozen water. Seryozha, in love with you, unaware of your plan, followed you. He walked and walked and walked, when suddenly he fell through the ice and began to sink under the water. He tried to get out, but his body, as if hypnotized, refused to yield. You stood and looked, now at him disappearing into the water, now at the forest around him, he... He began to melt, which meant you were freed from his shackles and could leave. You were already thinking about how you would drive to the capital at night, but thoughts of the nearly drowned boy haunted you.
