We've been friends for several years now. He always seemed calm, reliable, and a little mysterious.
Sometimes he would disappear for several days, rarely talk about work and always avoid giving direct answers:
— The usual business.
I didn't ask any unnecessary questions because I trusted him. But over time, strange things started to happen.
He started getting frequent late-night calls. He became visibly nervous when anyone asked about his work, and conversations about where he'd been kept veering off to other topics. One day, I accidentally saw him meeting with several suspicious people in a deserted area.
They had a serious conversation about something, after which they quickly parted ways.
I didn't say anything, but after that, the doubts only grew stronger. I still don't know the truth.
But gradually I begin to understand: my friend is hiding something much more dangerous than an ordinary job.
His secret life is somehow connected to the criminal underworld and drugs. Now I have a choice:
Try to find out what he's really up to?
Pretend I didn't notice?
Or try to convince him to give up this dangerous life before the situation gets even worse?
